Icestar jumped up onto the high rock. She lifted her tail up high and callded, "all cats gather around the high rock for an important meeting." She waited for all the cats to gather around. "I have a lot of kits to be renamed." she meowed. "And a apprentice to rename," she meowed. "I call upon my warrior ancestors to look down upon this kit. He would like to become a warrior of Beachclan, but must first become an apprentice. Thunderkit, from this day forth, until you have earned your warrior name, you will be known as Thunderpaw. I, Icestar will mentor you." she meowed. She dipped her head and touched noses with the kit.
"I call upon my warrior ancestors to look down upon this kit. She would like to become a warrior of Beachclan, but must first become an apprentice. Quailkit, from this day forth, until you have earned your warrior name, you will be known as Quailpaw. Lightstream will mentor you." she meowed. She dipped her head and waited till they had touched noses.
"I call upon my warrior ancestors to look down upon this kit. He would like to become a warrior of Beachclan, but must first become an apprentice. Inkkit, from this day forth, until you have earned your warrior name, you will be known as Inkpaw. Coppertail will mentor you." she meowed. She dipped her head once more and let the two cats touch noses.
"I call upon my warrior ancestors to look down upon this kit. She would like to become a warrior of Beachclan, but must first become an apprentice. Swallowkit, from this day forth, until you have earned your warrior name, you will be known as Swallowpaw. Bramblethorn will mentor you." she dipped her head and let the two she-cats touch noses.
"And last but not least, the warrior ceremony," she meowed, trying to catch her breath.
"I call upon my warrior ancestors to look down upon this apprentice. He has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in his turn. Foxpaw, do you promise to follow the warrior code and defend this Clan, even at the cost of your life?

Tigerstripe bounded joyously out of the nursery, Finally free! She took her place by the Highrock and watched her kits be apprenticed. "Hopefully nobody's taken my nest," she murmured.
Smiling, Thunderkit padded up to Icestar and touched his nose to hers. "Hi," he mewed before sitting back down some distance from Tigerstripe.
"Hey! Where's Quailkit?" she yowled, noticing that her daughter was not present. "Quailkit! Quailkit!"
Thunderpaw padded up to his mother and blinked. "I haven't seen her since this morning. I just thought she was out to explore--I guess I was wrong," he mewed sheepishly.
Fuming, Tigerstripe glanced over her shoulder. As soon as the ceremony was over, she would go look for the cat.

Inkpaw walked forward and nodded, then trampled over to his mother. He gave a smile, "I am an apprentice!" The new apprenticed cat said, puffing out his chest.

bic| Larchkit sat and watched his siblings being apprenticed. He knew when the next medicine cat meeting would be, he would finally become one. He looked at the sky and sighed.
Swallowpaw padded up to Thunderpaw "We're finally apprentices!" She purred to her brother.

"Congrats!" she meowed. "Now where is Quailkit you say again?" She meowed looking at her apprentice. "And where is Foxpaw," she meowed, looking around.

"Yeah, finally!" Thunderpaw joyfully meowed to his sister. He laughed as Inkpaw tackled her. "I can't wait to start training."
Quietshadow appeared from behind Tigerstripe. "Congratulations," he mewed to the kits. "Larchkit is going to be medicine cat apprentice--I don't think that I've gotten around to telling anyone but Icestar," he meowed sheepishly.
Tigerstripe smiled. "Oh...medicine cat apprentice? That's wonderful!" she meowed joyously. Her face fell when she heard Icestar asking about her missing daughter.
"She must have gone somewhere earlier today," Thunderpaw mewed. He nervously gulped. "W--what if she drowned or a fox got her or something!?"
Tigerstripe stood with an urgent glint in her eyes. "We should try to track her scent. If we're lucky she'll be somewhere on BeachClan territory--and still alive...!"

"Yes," Tigerstripe meowed urgently. "We need all the help we can get, you know." She irritably flicked her tail and glanced around for any possible sign of Quailkit as Thunderpaw went over to the nursery, sniffing around.
"I smell her!" he mewed excitedly. Tigerstripe raced over to the spot where her son stood and began to pad along, nose lifted a mouse-length above the ground. Thunderpaw bounded after her even though he had absolutely no idea where she would lead them.

Icestar jumped down from the rock and padded up to the family. "Well, we can't wait for the ceremony and search for her." Icestar meowed. She jumped back onto the rock, "everyone, Quailkit is missing. After this I want Tigerstripe, Thunderpaw, Lightstream, and Swallowpaw to come with me on a patrol." she hissed. She was mad that a 'kit' was out wandering. Her icey eyes shown no warmth, just anger and coldness.

Thunderpaw scurried off to find his mentor. "Icestar, Icestar!" he yowled. "Mom has found a scent trail. She's following it right now!" He scampered back to Tigerstripe with a quick glance over his shoulder to make sure that Icestar would follow him. "Coming, Swallowpaw?"
Tigerstripe turned her head around to look at the others as they approached. "Hurry up...!" she hissed under her breath.

Lightstream sprang forward enthusiastically. "Right behind you," she called to Tigerstripe as she scurried to catch up with her. "It's a shame Quailkit had to go wandering right before her apprentice ceremony, isn't it? Wonder why she'd do that?" It just has to be the cat that's to be my apprentice that disappears, doesn't it? She shook her head, laughing to herself. Oh well... She continued to follow Tigerstripe along the scent trail.

After following the trail for a few more paces, Tigerstripe stopped again to check that her clanmates were still parading after her. "We haven't got all day!"
"Mom, we'll have to spend all day searching if you keep stopping!" Thunderpaw meowed impatiently. She turned around to glare at the apprentice before returning to her devout stalking of the trail.

Inkpaw just sat there,knowing nothing about this. He sighed for a moment, maybe he didn't wanna become an aprrentice yet...or maybe...he was nervous.

Icestar jumped from the high rock and bolted after Tigerstripe. "I can smell her," she hissed. She put her nose to the ground and basicly steped into the queen's pawsteps. "Happy we found a scent, atleast," Icestar mumbled.
Stormcloud followed the cats into the thicket. "I can smell her, it's a little stale, but also a little strong," he informed.

Tigerstripe frowned. "Quailkit could be long dead but do what you like," she meowed coolly, still following the trail. Thunderpaw glanced back. "She could be dead!" he repeated.
"I get it," she growled.
Tigerstripe continued along the trail. "You know where this is going, right?" she asked Icestar, worried. "The trail is leading in the direction of the Rushing River." She picked up the pace, hurrying to get to the riverbank.

Inkpaw still sat there. He really did care about Quailkit. If only his mother understood what he felt like. She wouldn't, never would she. Inkpaw limped over to a rock and rested his weight on top of it, as he licked his small wound.

Quietshadow padded over from his spot near the Highrock over to Inkpaw as he noticed the apprentice licking an injury. "Hello," he meowed quietly. "Other than Larchkit disappearing, is there something wrong? I saw you licking yourself and you looked to be doing it a bit too tenderly to be grooming." He flicked his tail, concerned.

"You know," Lightstream put in quickly, "Maybe she did just go exploring.Or maybe she just wanted to look at the river - the splashing water is amazing, you know. Or at least, I've always thought it was. Do you think Quailkit would think so? I think she would. Or at least, I can't think of any other explanation." She lowered her eyes, wondering if it would've been a better idea to have kept quiet. "Um. What do you think, Tigerstripe?"

Coppertail paced back and forth fuming. "Had nobody thought to find Quailkit before her ceremony?!" he growled," I mean come on! This is an important ceremony!"
Out of the corner of his eye he spotted Quietshadow fussing over Inkpaw and concern washed over him. "Is something wrong with Inkpaw?" he demanded, rushing over.

Icestar pricked her head up, her ears also. "Your right, I can here the river, the waves are high!" he meowed softly. She didn't bother putting her nose to the ground no longer. The black leader picked up her pace, then started to run. "Quailkit! Quailkit!" she shouted.
Stormcloud was worried. "Why did this just happen when I came, cats might think it was my faulT!" he mummbled, under his breath.

Quietshadow looked at Coppertail. "I think it's an injury. Inkpaw says that nothing is wrong, but I digress. Refusing treatment won't make it better," he finished with a glance at Inkpaw.
Tigerstripe too began to run along the scent trail. Thunderpaw noticed his mother's change in pace and sprinted after her. She stopped at the bank of the Rushing River.
"The trail ends here," she said in a strangely hollow voice. "She must have--" At this point Tigerstripe stopped speaking and sorrowfly turned her head to the right.

Wow, the waves are pretty today... Lightstream shook her head - Quailkit came first. "Maybe we shouldn't jump to conclusions. Never turns out good, y'know?" She scrambled to the edge of the bank and began pacing back and fourth. "She always could've disguised her scent or something." She paused for a moment, trying to think. "Or, you know, I think she might have made it across. She's a smart cat - she probably wouldn't jump into the river unless she had some kind of plan and was confident she'd get to the other side."
