Applesong wandered into the camp clearing, looking around for all of her old friends. She hoped to find some new ones as well. If she couldn't...well then.
"Owlfoot! Honeyfrost! Come on over!" she exclaimed excitedly.

From the small storage den beneath the highrock where Sootpaw spent much of her time, it wasn't uncommon to pick up the voices of her clanmates outside. As she was checking the winter herb supply, however, one particular voice stood out - one she hadn't heard in a while. Applesong? Sootpaw gently swept together the pile of tansy she'd been checking; she had a tendency to scatter the herbs about as she worked with them. As she reached the entrance to the hollow, her eyes widened in delight. It was Applesong! But - where had she been for so long? She scurried across the camp to the ginger she-cat, her fur tingling. "Applesong! StarClan has guided you back!" she squealed, though she tried to dip her head in a respectful greeting. "And Honeyfrost and Owlfoot, too!" she added upon seeing the warriors behind her.

"Did you get any messages from your ancestors?" Applesong purred jokingly. She looked around, a scent of fresh-kill and herbs weaving its way to her nose. "By the way, where's Woodpaw? I would just like to see him." She turned to Owlfoot. He had always been such a kind tom.
So had everyone else in her Clan. Why did she ever leave them?

Honeyfrost slipped into camp and away from Applesong. The she-cat was making a scene and drawing her in too. She didn't like having all the Clans eyes on her, judging her, watching her, just waiting for something to happen. She repressed a shudder and with a dip of her head to Sootpaw, placed her squirrel in the fresh-kill pile. She grimaced at the sight of pile and turned to look at Owlfoot. He was so caught up in the moment, she didn't think he had even thought about the fact they would have to feed her. Why should they let Applesong stay when in the heart of leaf-bare she had ran-away like a coward? She closed her eyes and shook her head,it's not my decision to make. Who knows why she left? Honeyfrost walked back over to the small group of cats, trying to look happy.

Owlfoot shrugged, not really knowing where Woodpaw was. He blinked, turning to stare as Honeyfrost stalked away, eye becoming sad, his smile fading slightly. When she turned around and feigned a smile, he began to approach her, draping his tail over her shoulder as grew close enough, his smile small, but caring "Come on," he said, nudging her toward the entrance, "I need to go fetch my kills and I need some help."

Honeyfrost brushed her cheek against his, closing her eyes briefly and drawing in his scent. It was truly comforting to have him beside her and it pushed away all her thoughts of starvation and her siblings. "Okay," she meowed softly," I'll come with you and help you. But you should probably tell Hawkstar about Applesong first." She glanced over to where the orange she-cat was happily chatting with everybody.
A slim white she-cat slipped out of the Nursery where she had been checking it for security. Orchidtail blinked her green eyes in surprise at who was standing in the middle of camp. Applesong! She wiggled her short tail and bounded over to the she-cat, all smiles. "Applesong! You're back. Where have you been?" she meowed loudly.

"No, actually," Sootpaw meowed, tipping her head contemplatively for a moment. "But they helped you find your way back, and that's what matters. This is incredible!" She purred, brushing up against Applesong's legs. The ginger warrior was always so enthusiastic around Sootpaw and the other apprentices; it would be fun to have her back in camp again. "Woodpaw might be in his den," she meowed, in response to the second question. "I'm not sure." She wondered briefly whether Applesong had heard that Hawkstar's kits were now apprentices, as well. She was about to ask, but decided that it wouldn't be very nice of her to blurt it out if Orcidtail wanted to tell her herself.
(ooc) Does this take place before the little excursion to see Burntstar? (/ooc)

Owlfoot sighed, smiling sadly. "Right....is even here?" he asked, looking about. "I could have sworn he went out on patrol earlier..." He trailed off, looking to Honeyfrost. He shrugged and approached Orchidtail, hoping she'd know where her mate was.

[OOC: I have no clue, Loaym.]
Applesong laughed heartily as Orchidtail approached. "How are your kits doing? Have they become apprentices yet?" she asked. Applesong lay down upon the dirt ground, looking up at the clouds.
Thank you, StarClan. You have helped me find my way home.

Firepaw padded quietly out of the apprentices' den. She saw Applesong laying on the ground. She walked over, watching her paws as she padded along. When she reached the cats, she meowed, "Hello." Then she sat, wrapping her tail around her legs.

Applesong looked down and saw the orange apprentice sitting down, her tail curled around her legs. Who was this shy apprentice? "Hello there. My name is Applesong, what's your name?" Applesong asked, trying not to frighten her.

ooc: It can take place just after the excursion. Is that okay? bic: Orchidtail groaned and rolled her eyes. Her kits. Those troublesome kits that fought with one another and ran off across the territory. "They're a bundle of joy," she meowed sarcastically. "Rainwing is mentoring Littlepaw, Owlfoot is mentoring Goldenpaw, Spottedfrost with Lightningpaw and Ravenclaw with Heronpaw."

Ravenclaw! I remember him faintly. And I remember all of the kits, so cute and fuzzy. She snapped out of her thoughts quickly. "Oh really? I hope the apprentices are adjusting to all their apprentice tasks." She rubbed her head against Owlfoot's fur. "Come on, let's get to the warriors' den."

(ooc) I probably won't bring Woodpaw in, then, as I don't know what his exact role in the excursion board is quite yet. xD (/ooc)
"Applesong, wait!" Sootpaw moved over quickly as the warrior mentioned going to the den. The warriors' den - where she used to sleep before. It's as if she never left in the first place... StarClan must be glad that she's home. The black-and-tan apprentice gently shook her head, snapping herself out of her thoughts, and continued: "Do you think you could tell me about where you were, and how StarClan found you? Because - well, I don't think they told me about you coming back. Maybe you were too far away, or..." she paused, thinking again. "Or... I dunno. But I want to know about StarClan!"

Orchidtail smiled faintly. "It's mainly just Lightningpaw and Heronpaw doing the duties, they've been rather difficult lately," she meowed. When Applesong moved to go to the warriors' den, like Sootpaw, quickly moved to stop the ginger she-cat. "Yes, where did you go? We can't just let you walk back into camp and go to sleep like nothing happened," she meowed in a soft, stern voice. She glanced at Owlfoot briefly, a signal that she knew what he wanted. "You'll have to talk to Hawkstar first. We many not be able to let you stay..."

Firepaw shuffled her paws and mewled quietly so no one could here, "I'm Firepaw." It came out like a squeak, and Firepaw backed away a bit. She looked back at the apprentices' den and lashed her tail. Opening her mouth, she smelled the air and started off towards the apprentices' den.

Just then, a familiar scent came into camp as Rainclan's leader appeared. He had a three pieces of freshkill with him, two mice and a plump thrush. He seemed to be thinking about something as he apparentily didn't notice the group of cats clustered around a familiar face. He placed down his prey, stretching out in the sun for a moment. Then his blue eyes scanned camp, catching sight of his mate and the others. And another cat....Applesong! He padded over, smiling warmly. "Applesong! It's very good to see you! You came back!"
At the commotion, Lightningpaw poked his head out of the elders den to see what was happening. "Hey, Heronpaw, something's up." he called over his shoulder, tail twitching. He then dropped the bedding he was fixing, and padded out to the clearing. He noticed everyone was crowding around some she-cat, seeming very excited. 'Who is she?' he thought, stopping inbetween his mother and father, looking to the cat curiously.
((Sorry, just realized I needed to be at this board xD))

"It's this thing called the sky," Heronpaw meowed with false cheerfulness. He was in a foul mood due to the fact that some fleas from the elders' den had taken up residence in his fur and he couldn't stop scratching himself, making it hard to change bedding in the dens. He turned around to ask his brother for the fresh bedding when he saw that the black and white tom was gone. He growled loudly and stomped after him only to freeze at the scent of an unfamiliar cat. Everybody seemed to be looking quite excited and smiling cheerfully at an orange she-cat. Everybody excluding Honeyfrost who seemed to be turning green with envy. Afterall, the mystery she-cat was getting quite cosy with the deputy. Heronpaw turned to see Firepaw and called her over. "Who's the new cat?" he asked.

"But... but, Orchidtail..." Sootpaw stammered, though she realized that the white queen's words made sense. "We have to let her stay! StarClan guided her back special!" She shut up, partially upon realizing how ridiculous she must have sounded, but also because the Clan leader had appeared at the camp entrance. The medicine cat apprentice tensed slightly upon his arrival. Hawkstar was one of the friendliest cats she knew - but would he allow Applesong to return to RainClan? Why do you even care, mouse-brain? she thought to herself - and yet, she did know why. She closed her eyes, imagining the ginger warrior walking down a path, watched by the gentle eyes of countless starry cats as they led her home. StarClan couldn't have brought Applesong back only to have her sent away again! It just wouldn't be right. She knew that there was something her thought process was missing still, though she couldn't seem to place it.

Owlfoot nodded, and, almost one cue, turned to entrance as Hawkstar had entered. He blinked at the leader's thoughtful expression and sat back out of respect, not wishing to interrupt his thought process. Seeing as how he noticed Applesong a little bit later, the deputy grined a happy grin and turned to Honeyfrot, his one eyes twinkling, the blind one staring uselessly into the lighted air around it.

[OOC: Why am I thinking a relationship with Owlfoot and Applesong could be possible? As Alimay said, she is getting quite cozy with him.]
"Heronpaw and Lightningpaw? Orchidtail, you mean those are your kits?" Applesong asked curiously, sniffing the air around the two apprentices. She then turned to look up at Hawkstar and smiled gleefully. "I'm glad you're still here, too," she mewed.
Applesong looked at Firepaw and Sootpaw. "StarClan? I'm not exactly sure how they guided me, but I felt as if I needed to come back. Firepaw...hello." She paused, uncertain about what she should say or do next.

{Applesong and Honeyfrost could become rivals xD} Orchidtail smiled at Sootpaw, a reasuring gesture. The medicine cat apprentice was probably right and helped influence Applesong's decision but the she-cat seemed unsure whether it had anything to with it. She wasn't explaining her disappearance either. "Yes, Lightningpaw say hello!" Orchidtail meowed, nudging the smaller black and white tom forward.
Honeyfrost gave Owlfoot a small smile before sitting down and curling her tail around her paws. She was sitting a little out of the way, so that it was obvious she was not part of the crowd but just waiting, or watching. She had thought there was a relationship between her and the deputy, one more than friendship but now she was not too sure. Honeyfrost frowned and licked her chest fur, trying to distract herself.

Desertfoot slunk out of the elders' den to see what seemed to be the entire Clan gathering around a familiar she-cat. Regaining his old energy, Desertfoot bounded towards her. "Applesong...is it really you?" he asked shyly.
"Of course. Who else could it be?" purred Applesong, nudging her father lovingly. She had always cared for him, through thick and thin.

(Owlfoot is astounded you would think such a thing of him. Seriously. *really, don't take this too seriously*)
Owlfoot turned away from the gathered cats, pushing through teh crowd to sit beside Honeyfrost, a purr deep in his chest. His tail wrapped over hers as he sat next to her, his eyes glittering happily. He turned his head as Desertfoot made his way from the elder's den.

[OOC: I was trying to make sense of this. What do you mean don't take this too seriously? It's okay if you don't want Applesong and Owlfoot to have a love relationship. Alimay, I definitely see Applesong vs. Honeyfrost rivalry.]
Desertfoot spotted Owlfoot in the crowd of cats. "Are you doing well?" he asked. Applesong looked to Hawkstar and the two apprentices. "My name is Applesong. I used to be here a...long...time...ago." She paused as she saw Owlfoot walking over and sitting next to Honeyfrost. I just can't stand her, and I don't know why! Just like that annoying...Doveheart. Well, wasn't that her name?

(xD You guys crack me up) Lightningpaw stumbled forward towards the strange she-cat as his mother nudged him. Clumsy was not a good first impression. "Oh, um...hello Applesong..." he greeted slowly, unsure of what to say. 'Where was Heronpaw? Why wasn't he forced into this awkward hello?' he thought then smiled when she-cat spoke. "Oh, that would explain why I don't remember you." he said, trying not to let the relief sound in his voice. He didn't want to completely space and actually have known this cat. And then he asked the question that was on everyone's mind.
"So...where'd you go?"
Before Applesong had a chance to answer, Hawkstar stepped in. "It's great Applesong is back, but Owlfoot, Orchidtail, and I need to speak with her in my den." he said calmly and evenly, the command tone in his voice showing that this was important. He glanced to Owlfoot and nodded to him before turning and padding towards his den, flicking his tail to signal for Applesong to follow.

{ Oh gosh. Rivalry would be fun xD Okay with you Redcloud?}
Honeyfrost couldn't help but smile as Owlfoot approached her and sat down beside her. She curled her tail around his and pushed her nose into his shoulder. A purr rumbled in her chest, echo-ing his. She closed her blue eyes and thought to herself 'How could I ever not trust him? How far have I fallen?'. However, she heard what Hawkstar said and sighed sadly, pulling away. "You have duties with Hawkstar it seems. I'll go collect your prey," she told him, her voice resigned and glum. Applesong was ruining everything for her.
"You were just a newborn," Orchidtail meowed to Lightingpaw, rasping her tongue over his ear. "Now, go tell Heronpaw before he bursts," she meowed sternly, gesturing to the grey tom. There was business to attend to and she couldn't be bothered coming up with more ways to keep her sons occupied. Heronpaw was still outside the elders' den, his eyes gleaming. 'Come on!' he mouthed eagerly to Lightningpaw. He wanted to know who this Applesong was but didn't want to end up embarassed like his brother was. Perhaps Maplepaw had some stories to tell... However, the she-cat hadn't been talking to him since he fought with Lichenpelt and had instead been focusing intently on training. She would probably get her warrior name soon, finally.

"Me? Oh yes...I went out into the forest. Killed a fox," Applesong boasted. "Then, um, I stayed in there for a long time until I decided to come back and here I-" She turned around and saw Hawkstar headed towards the den. She nodded loyally and followed him by a fox-tail length.
"I would suppose your kits are excited to become warriors soon," Desertfoot mewed to Orchidtail. "They seem healthy and overall quite fine." He patted Lightningpaw on the head with his blunt claws. You'll be a fine warrior someday, Lightningpaw, Desertfoot thought to himself.
[OOC: I have no clue why Desertfoot is so interested in Lightningpaw. However, I think he sees potential in him.]
