Owlfoot sighed in resignation, standing up. "Thanks," he purred, smiling at her sadly, padding after his leader. He turned to make sure Applesong was following Hawkstar, her having been on his blind side. He shivered slightly, shaking his head lightly. He still hadn't gotten used to it. Not at all.
(Fine with me.)

[OOC: Redcloud, do you mean it's okay for Applesong and Owlfoot to have a relationship? Also, I have a question - blind side? Since when did Owlfoot lose one eye?]
Applesong sat down inside Hawkstar's den and sniffed the air. Whew. It still smells like it has always smelled like. That's a relief. She looked at her leader thoughtfully and mewed, "So, am I going to rejoin the Clan or not?"
Desertfoot looked worriedly at Orchidtail and Honeyfrost. "I hope that she gets to stay in the Clan," he whispered anxiously. "If she isn't able to re-join, I don't know what I'm going to do. She's my daughter, and I won't lose her again!" He stood up triumphantly before then losing his strength and tumbling over in a heap on the ground.

Hawkstar looked up, studying the she-cat thoughtfully. He smiled at her question with a nod. "We'll see." he said, knowing she must be anxious. A lot of cats were now, but he must do his job as leader first. "I'm sure this is a question on everyone's mind, as my son has already asked it. Where did you go and how or why did you come back?" he asked, wrapping his tail around his paws and looking to her expectantly.

{Somebody should of told you. Honeyfrost and Owlfoot were attacked by rogues while you were away. Owlfoot's eye was scratched so he's blind now, or partially blind. I don't know. He also has scars around his neck and shoulder. Honeyfrost has scars around her neck and shoulders as well because her fur is still gorwing back :0}
Orchidtail nudged Desertfoot back to his feet giving him a smile. "We'll do our best, but we can't have warriors just wandering off without a word," she told him. "It doesn't give the impression of a loyal warrior. Applesong will just have to explain what happened." She glanced over at Honeyfrost and nudged her head for the she-cat to help the elder. Honeyfrost padded over slowly towards Desertfoot while the white she-cat joined the group in the warriors den.

Owlfoot looked to Applesong, awaiting her explanation. Or excuse. Whichever one it was. He waited quietly, knowing full well that Hawkstar was the one asking questions at the moment. If any popped up for him, he'd have to wait.
(Yes, it's fine if they have a rivalry. And, sorry I forgot to tell you. I've been so distracted lately.)

Applesong looked up at Hawkstar and Owlfoot nervously, and meowed, "It was Dawnwhisker. When I found out that my dear Clanmate had died, I was torn. I couldn't bear it any longer, so I ran away. I thought that I would live there in pain forever, and die a sad death. But then I started to be a little bit brighter, and I came back." She looked at Owlfoot and his scarred eye. "Owlfoot, must I ask what happened to you?" she questioned politely.
"Thank you, Orchidtail," Desertfoot coughed as he sat down next to the white she-cat. I just hope nothing bad happens to Applesong, he thought desperately. StarClan, please forgive her. Let her back in.

Owlfoot's eyes darkened slightly at her story, blinking as he thought. She ran away. That meant she couldn't come back, right? He jerked, blinking at her. He smiled sadly, chuckling slightly. 'Oh....Honeyfrost and I were attacked by a pair of trespassing rogues. Took me off guard and managed to gouge my eye a bit," he said, his chuckle dark and a tad sad.

Honeyfrost sighed and draped her tail over Desertfoot's shoulders. "I met you're pleased that Applesong's home again," she commented with a weak smile. The tone of her voice was rather expressionless, quiet and resigned. "Is there anything you want to eat while we await Hawkstar's decision?" she asked.
Orchidtail frowned at Applesong's story and glanced at Hawkstar. They were all affected by Dawnwhisker's death but none of them had ran away to StarClan-knows-where to deal with the grief. If this was how Applesong handled things how was she meant to handle other deaths in Clan life?
Heronpaw raced over to Lightningpaw as soon as their parents, the deputy and the new cat had left to the Leader's Den. "Who is she? What's she like? Is she Owlfoot's mate?" he asked excitedly. "Let's go see Maplepaw! No...I think she's out. Let's ask Desertfoot or Honeyfrost! Did you see her expression? It looked like she had swallowed a badger, she really doesn't like her." He grinned widly, his tail flicking back and forth. Applesong's arrival was like a breath of fresh air in his otherwise dull life of looking for ticks. Apprentice duties were a complete bore.

[OOC: What Applesong said to Hawkstar, Owlfoot, and Orchidtail is only part of the truth. She was also ashamed of herself for her earlier relationship with Cinderflame. She still has some feelings for him, and she felt horrible about it.]
"Owlfoot's mate, I heard you say?" laughed Applesong to herself, turning around to look at the gray apprentice. "No, not at all." At least she thought that Heronpaw had said so. She wasn't quite certain, but she coughed at the thought. Owlfoot's mate? I wonder what made him get that idea... Then, she looked at Orchidtail and stared into her deep, green eyes. She could sense sorrow and disbelief in Orchidtail. Was it because of Applesong's unbelievable reaction? It was only...partly...the truth.
"Heronpaw, she's my eldest daughter," Desertfoot explained. "Her name is Applesong. She left the Clan when you were very young...before you became apprentices, even." For some reason, he didn't think Applesong was telling the absolute truth. But then again, what other reason would there be?

Lightningpaw had barely any time to react when suddenly Heronpaw was there, talking as fast as he could breath. He was quiet the whole time, though he barely had time to speak while his brother gave him rapid questions. Finally he looked to his, his rolling his green eyes. "Heronpaw. I only said HI to her, good grief, and you want me to tell you her life story?" he said smartly, raising a paw and swatting his ear. Seriously, did his brother really get such a joy of causing trouble?
Hawkstar, was thinking the same as his deputy and mate. "Applesong." he said quietly, but with enough authority to get her attention. "We were all grieved by Dawnwhisker's death, but that doesn't not excuse deserting your clan. How may I acceptyou back with the fear this will happen again?" he said, pausing and studying her carefully. "And are you telling me the complete truth?"

{ Orchidtail, Hawkstar, Owlfoot and Applesong are in the Leader's Den while everybody else is outside. So Desertfoot wouldn't have seen Orchidtail's reaction and Applesong wouldn't have responded to Heronpaw's comment. }
Heronpaw pouted and flicked his ears in annoyance. Lightningpaw could of at least told him something he knew rather than mock him. He looked over at Desertfoot, hearing his comment. "Your daughter? You do look similiar. What is she like then?" Honeyfrost grimaced and a look of what could be hatred crossed her face. The grey tom turned to her, his own blue eyes studying her reaction. "What are you looking at?" she growled. Heronpaw grinned back, his tail flicking happily. "You're jealous!" The she-cat looked taken aback and seemed to shy away. "Jealous?" she echoed. She shook her head and glared at Heronpaw. "I am not jealous of that happy, chatty, mouse-brained ginger she-cat!" The apprentice smirked and turned to his brother and gave him a look that said I knew it!

"Of...of...of course I am." Applesong stammered nervously. Could Hawkstar be seeing through her lie? She couldn't tell anyone how much she cared for Cinderflame. It would give her a free ticket out of the Clan for sure.
Desertfoot nodded at the young apprentice, and replied, "Yes, Applesong is my daughter. A long time ago, I mated with a she-cat, yet her eldest kit vanished. She told me that it had been taken away by a fox, but I knew better. She's dead and gone now, but I still miss her." He looked sadly at Heronpaw. "Well, what is she like? Applesong's different from all of us, but she tries to be sociable and kind to every cat in her Clan." Desertfoot calmly licked his paw as if nothing was wrong. But he was troubled. Applesong lying? It had never occurred to me she would lie, for she's so concerned with proving her loyalty to RainClan. But still...

Orchidtail tipped her head slightly, watching Applesong with her bright green eyes. The colour was startling against her white fur and she knew the ginger she-cat was beginning to feel uncomfortable under her gaze. "So you ranaway out of grief?" she meowed, her tone disbelieving. "Do you know how long we searched for you? We sent patrols to check every border, we checked every hollow. Some of us even searched all night. In the rain and snow and freezing winds we searched and you had 'ranaway' without a word." Her voice was no angry just disapproving and upset.

[OOC: Applesong is very right. I have no idea how this is going to turn out. Y'all know what's the real reason, so I have no clue if she should stay in the Clan or not. I'm not planning on leaving (out of character) again, though...]
Applesong sadly realized how she wasn't really sure if she should tell the truth or not. But if she finally decided to tell, then she would certainly - in her opinion - be kicked out of the Clan. "Ha-ha-wkstar, I would wish to talk to you alone." She gazed at her father talking with Honeyfrost and the two apprentices. Applesong thought to herself in pain, StarClan, I don't want to leave my Clan again. I don't know how this should go.

Hawkstar kept a skeptical gaze on the she-cat, only switching his gaze when his mate spoke. She was right, two had even gotten slightly sick because of their search in the cold. He turned back to Applesong when she spoke unsurely to him, nodding. "Alright Applesong." he said, flicking his tail towards the entrance as a signal for Owlfoot and Orchidtail to leave them. "Excuse us please." he said quietly, meeting eyes with his mate and deputy before they left.

Applesong stared into Hawkstar's eyes. "I was only telling part of the truth. You see, I had met with this cat...from FrostClan...and I was worried about him. I couldn't hide it from anyone any longer." A lump felt stuck in the middle of her throat. "Hawkstar, I'm so sorry. I never should have done anything to disprove my loyalty."

{Cats can't cry in the same sense we can. Also, Desertfoot can't see Applesong because they're in the den remember.} Orchidtail nodded to Hawkstar and gave his cheek a brief lick before slipping out of the den. She spotted her two sons chatting and Honeyfrost with Desertfoot, a look of anger of here face. "Problem?" she asked, tilting her head. The light, almost golden she-cat jumped slightly and frowned. "Nothing's wrong at all." "Actually," interrupted Heronpaw," She's just fuming about Applesong. Is she staying?" She turned from her son back to Honeyfrost, who was looking particulary uncomfortable. Why would she be angry at Applesong? What had she done? she wondered. Honeyfrost jumped up, her tail twitching. "Can we stop talking about her! I have things to do," she growled. She whirled around and stalked off, heading out of camp. Heronpaw was unphased and prodded his mother with a paw. "Well?" "Oh well, Hawkstar is still talking it over with her. Apparently she was upset about Dawnwhisker but I don't think that's the whole truth," Orchidtail murmured, still watching Honeyfrost leave.

Hawkstar was silent a moment, his eyes not showing any emotion as he listened to the she-cat's explaination. After a while, he finally spoke, his voice quiet was had a commanding tone to it. "Applesong. I am disappointed with your actions." he said finally, meeting her eyes with his dark ones. "But, I do know what it's like to be in love. And I do suppose that if you didn't regret your actions and want to change, you wouldn't come back. You are welcome back, but you will be watched for strange behavior and if anything like this happens again, I won't be so welcoming." he said, ending with half a smile and nod for her to go ahead and tell her father.
Lightningpaw watched Honeyfrost storm off with concern. He didn't want more fighting in their clan. "Heronpaw, you couldn't keep your nose out of others business if a badger lept out and bit you." he said with a sigh, rolling his eyes. He glanced back to his mother as she spoke, tilting his head curiously. "Why do you think that?"

Applesong nuzzled Hawkstar affectionately before prancing out of the leader's den. "Thank you so-" She had almost finished calling out to the RainClan leader before she stumbled on a rock and fell. "Owwww..."
Desertfoot smiled as he walked over to his daughter. "Did Hawkstar let you back into the Clan?" After Applesong whispered a short something into his ear, he nodded contentedly. "I'm quite happy for you."

Owlfoot just blinked after Applesong, sighing lightly through his nose. "Do you think that is such a good idea, Hawkstar?" he whispered once their friend was out of earshot. "She;s our friend and all, but she abandoned us. I'm concerned this may happen again."

Hawkstar's shoulders relaxed and he sighed. He glanced to his deputy, then to the she-cat. Owlfoot had just voiced his own fears. "I know, we'll just watch and judge her actions." he said calmly, tail flickering back and forth. He gave a good-natured smile, looking to his deputy. "Though at times, seems I'm just a big softy." he said with a roll of his eyes and a yawn. "She will have to prove herself to us again, some of the clan might not be so willing to accept. Honeyfrost for example."
((Lol, Hawkstar's noticed.))

Owlfoot just blinked, ears flattening. "Yeah...I just hope she tries her best to prove she's still loyal to RainClan. I really do," he said, tilting his head, glancing out of the den for just a moment. "I'm worried about her. Honeyfrost, I mean. She's been so upset since Applesong came home..."

Orchidtail was about to answer Lightningpaw's question when Applesong came tumbling out of the den, evidently happy. Hawkstar had let her stay. "It seems," she meowed softly," That whatever reason she had did not prove too damaging. She's staying." The white warrior turned away, padding back towards the leader's den.
Heronpaw swiped a sheathed paw at his brother's ears. "I'm just interested that's all. Everything here is so boring that I would be excited if somebody got a thorn in their paw."
A dark ginger she-cat came rushing into camp, a scrawny squirrel hanging from her jaws. Her amber eyes were blazing with excitement. Maplepaw had just caught Applesong's scent while returning to camp and had ran back. When she caught sight of the she-cat she squealed, dropped her prey and rushed over. "You're back!" she meowed, slightly breathless.

Hawkstar nodded, then flicked his deputy's shoulder with his tail encouragingly. "I'm sure she'll be fine my friend." he said warmly, his blue eyes sparkling with wisdom. He had an idea to the she-cat's behavior, but it wasn't his business to be nosy. He glanced back to the clearing, seeing his mate padding towards them. "Owlfoot, see if you can take Goldenkit out training. And organize a patrol later."
Lightningpaw nodded. "I know, I'm bored too. It's our fault though, after all. Stuck doing all the apprentice duties." he said with a sigh. Then a familiar scent hit him and he recognized it instantly. His eyes lit up as Maplepaw came quickly into camp, he was always excited to see the she-cat. He was about to go over and say hey to her, but when she went to Applesong, clearly excited, he stayed put with his brother. She wanted to see Applesong now, she just got here after all. "Come on, let's finish the elder's bedding so we can rest." he said, nudging Heronpaw and padding back towards the elders den.

Owlfoot nodded, smiling slightly. "Alright. I'll be sure to do that when we get back," he said, turning and padding from the den. His ears flicked to the side, an itch twinging down it. He grumbled slightly, but let it be. "Goldenpaw!" he called, padding toward the apprentice's den. "Are you in there?" It was safe to assume she was in there. After all, she wasn't outside when they greeted Applesong.

"Oh, Maplepaw! Has your leg healed? What about your brother?" Applesong chattered excitedly, rushing up to her friend. "Dawnwhisker used to be so worried about you..." Her voice trailed away and her tail twitched anxiously.
Desertfoot smiled at Hawkstar and meowed, "I figure she'll do well for the rest of her days. The apprentices seem to be happy that they can get a break from their duties." He itched his fur with his back paw and then called for one of the apprentices to pick off a flea from his back.

"It's fine now, a little sore in this cold but I'm allowed to go hunting now and run!" Maplepaw meowed excitedly. She was the age of a young warrior and should of been made a warrior six moons ago with her brother but various injuries had held her back. Her smile faded as she remembered the last medicine cat. "Yeah...Dawnwhisker was always putting poultices on it," she murmured.
"I suspose," Heronpaw grumbled, digging his claws into the ground. If they hadn't been fighting with each other they would be out hunting with their mentors. He could hear Owlfoot calling Goldenpaw now and he felt a pang of jealously. At Lightningpaw's nudge he rose to his paws and followed after him. However, Desertfoot's meow sent a shudder through him and he turned around a fake smile on his face. "Another flea?" he asked," I thought I had all of your fleas."
"Oh Owlfoot!" Orchidtail called out, pausing outside the den. The deputy was calling her daughter for training but she thought he would want to know. "Honeyfrost stormed off, angry at something Heronpaw said. I'm not sure what but she looked awfully unhappy. She seems to like you quite a bit so I thought you could go see what the matter is." As much as Orchidtail disapproved of meddling in other's lives, this was a time to throw her opinions aside. Clan life was complicated enough without having two warriors fighting a tom. Maplepaw heard the white she-cat's call and leaned around Applesong to add her worth in. "She went to get your catches," she told him.

I wonder if he knows I'm playing a trick on him... thought Desertfoot to himself. Most everyone in the Clan knew how much he loved to play tricks on the apprentices. The scratching was obviously fake, so...maybe he doesn't realize? Anyway, he nodded his head and turned his back to Heronpaw.

Owlfoot jerked, turning his head rapidly, Orchidtail coming up on his blind side. He soon relaxed, letting out a tense breath before smiling. "Of course! I'll take Goldenpaw out by there. It's a great place to hunt squirrels," he said, smiling happily. "Thank you for telling me," he mewed before turning back to call for Goldenpaw again.

Lightningpaw looked over his shoulder at Desertfoot's comment. Oh poor Heronpaw.....did he realize the joke? With a sigh, he went over and nudged his brother. "You do know he's kidding...right?" he said quietly in his ear, raising an eyebrow. He only knew this because he had fallen for this twice before. Even as he spoke, he found his eyes straying to Maplepaw, wishing to go talk to her. 'No...she hasn't looked at you the same since the fight. Your just as reckless as Heronpaw to her. Besides, what does it matter if you talk to her?' he thought, but he knew why. She was his friend. He loved hearing her stories and just talking with her.
