"Facinating." It was evident by the flatness in her voice that Nightshade couldn't care less about some cat killing another cat when she had never even seen them. "I guess that rogues stick together in these parts?"

Badger turned and glared at Nightshade, obviously getting tired of her apathetic attitude. "Apparently," he hissed at her, his tail twitching in agitation.

Nightshade frowned. Could they really expect her to grieve for a rogue she had never known? "Where I'm from, rogues are pretty much on our own."

Badger sniffed slightly, watching her with slight disdain. "They are where I'm from too, but I wouldn't speak like they didn't matter in front of those who saw them as valuable allies," he hissed, eyes glittering.

"Er..Nightshade?" Spider aksed," Have you seen a grey-bluish...white tabby on your travels? She's slightly bigger then me and she has blue eyes annnnd...she's called Dream!" Spider paused, letting this information set in. "Have you seen her? Y'know on your travels. Your from faraway right?" He tipped his head on his side hoping that his nose had not betrayed him.

Nightshade looked at Spider. "No. I haven't seen very many, uh, she-cats on the way over. I traveled pretty much on my own." She flicked her tail with a distinctively dismissive air.

Spider sighed. It was worth a shot. "What's it like in the mountains?" he asked. He had noticed her paw pads were black and cracked from walking on hard surfaces. He raised on of his own forepaws and glanced it. His too were black from walking on two-leg stone.

"Cold," she admitted. "It snows in almost every season and when it doesn't, it's still cold and windy." To prove her point, Nighshade fluffed up her thicker-than-average pelt. "Also, the ground is stony and hard. Not at all like this grass here."

Badger sniffed slightly, shifting on his own overused pads. Living in a foul smelling twoleg camp was killer on your lungs and legs. You always had to run or fight. There was no relaxing.

Nightshade lowered herself down to the ground and tucked her paws under her chest. She was going to relax while talking until she had to get up to do something. She was quickly becoming bored of these new cats.

Spider's stomach rumbled loudly. He hadn't eaten in a while. "Anyone up for a hunt with me?" he asked.

Badger sniffed slightly and stood, padding toward the long limbed cat. "Sure, I will," he said, even though he had already ate.

"Okay," meowed Nightshade in agreement. She had just eaten, although the mouse had been far from enough to satisfy her hunger. "I'm coming too."

Spider looked at Nightshade curiousily. For some reason he had thought she would say no. He shook the thought from his head and led the cats out of the hollow. He could scent rabbit up ahead. "Rabbit," he meowed to them, beaming.

Badger nodded, also catching the rabbit's scent. "All yours," he said, nodding to Spider. Badger himself was highly doubting he'd have the drive to catch anything, considering he was full right now.

Spider smiled and dropped into a crouch. He inched forward through the grass. He was downwind but he knew the rabbit would see him first before it heard or smelt him. The rabbit twitched and Spider bolted towards it. The rabbit kicked up a small cloud of dust and ran with Spider on it's tail. He stretched out across the ground, the wind blowing his fur flat. His small frame and powerful hindlegs gave him the advantage and he lept onto the rabbit, cutting it off. He dispatched it with a quick bite. His head poked over the edge of the grass as he picked up his kill.

Badger blinked, surprised by Spider's speed. The large tom may be able to top the thinner cat in strength, but never speed.

Nightshade twitched her whiskers. "Nice catch," she mewed in her soft voice. "I didn't have very good training where I came from." This was not the full truth, but at least a part of it.

Badger chuckled at her statement, not really believing what she said. "A former clan cat who isn't a skilled hunter?" he asked, amusement in his voice.

Nightshade fluffed up her tail, indignant. "Actually, I was too much of a failure of an apprentice to become a full warrior. So what did I do? I blackmailed the leader. When I got my warrior name, I left. Simple, no?"

Badger chuckled again. "Simple, yet ingenious. So, what did your leader do that was so bad, he gave you a warrior name not to tell anybody?" he asked, looking over at her with his pale eyes.

She smirked widely. "Well, it's a little different." Nightshade sat down and tucked her tail around her white paws. "Our leader back there was a big gray tom by the name of Lichenstar. The cretin wore his heart on his sleeve...his emotions would mess with him. It didn't help that he was a she-catizer. He fell in love with me--hard to believe, I was still an apprentice--and I told him that I would be his mate once I got my warrior name. So excited, that moron. I became Nightshade and left. Real angry then. He wanted my parents Coalfur and Willowpelt to be killed. They ran off too. Dad is probably dead...dunno about Mom. I went farther than they did and found this dump." She flicked her ear, like it was no big deal.

Badger chuckled again, obviously amused by her tale. "My mother is dead. My father, I have no clue. Our parental history seems to be reversed," he said, finding that little note obviously interesting.

"Intresting." She flicked her tail noncommittally. "Oh, don't worry about Lichenstar. I heard that he found himself a she-cat...he's dead now, I think. Her voice was light and calm. She couldn't care any less.

Badger sniffed slightly, blinking at her with little interest on that subject. "Right," he said, ears flicking.

"Luckily, nobody cares." She flopped down on her side and yawned. Nightshade then rolled on her belly and glanced critically at her rough paw pads. Despite her having white paws, the pads were black from seasons of padding over the rough, stony mountains.

Badger sniffed the air and looked up, eyeing the sky with glittery pale eyes. The sky seemed to reflect in his eyes, giving him an almost innocent glimmer to them.

Nightshade sneezed. The pollen in new-leaf always seemed to get in her nose. "Ugh." She wasn't used to that. In the mountians, most of the vegetation were lichens and sparse brush, with the occasional stunted tree looking out of place.

Badger jumped at her sneeze and looked at her with frustration. Here he was, trying to think, and she goes and interrupts him! That wasn't very nice.

Nightshade met Badger's glare with a contemptous, sarcastic one of her own. What was his problem?
