Spottedfrost had collapsed two times on her way back to camp. But she and Wolfheart were finally there! She dragged him a couple more steps before her legs gave way. "Help," she whispered. Then her eyes closed and her mind went blank.

Dawnwhisker peeked into some ferns right outside camp. She was looking for some more lavender, which she was running out of. Suddenly, she saw Spottedfrost and Wolfheart collapsed on the ground. She rushed over to them and tried to nudge Wolfheart and Spottedfrost awake. "Are you okay?" she asked hurriedly. "What happened?"

Maplepaw's ears twitched and scent of blood and badger filled her nostrils. Stiffly, she rose to her paws and looked around. "Woodpaw," she hissed," Can you smell something?" She opened her mouth and ran the air over her scent glands. That's a RainClan scent! Spottedfrost! Wolfheart! Limping, she rushed out from the den to see what was going on. "Come quick!" she called to the other warriors.
Orchidtail's ears pricked up at Maplepaw's call. "Hawkstar," she murmured," Maplepaw seems awfully upset. I wonder if her leg is bothering her?"

Woodpaw raised his head. "Yeah," he mumbled, though he was a bit distracted. He sighed and squirmed back into a ball, only to scent the two warriors a moment later. "Wait, what?" He jumped to his feet, only to have pain surge through his front leg - his paw didn't seem to have healed yet. If anything, he thought, it hurt more. "Ow! Ow! Ow!" He shook it furiously and glanced around the den. "Maplepaw? Where'd you-" Taking a step forward, he tripped on the moss at the edge of his nest and skidded across the floor of the den. "Oops," he mumbled, pulling himself back up - he was relieved that no one had seen him, but strangely annoyed at the same time. "Maplepaw! What's going on?"
"Dawnwhisker, is this lavender?" Sootpaw nudged the plant curiously with her muzzle, though her thoughts were elsewhere. It was strange, she realized, adjusting to a new mentor - even if she'd only known Sleetpelt for less than a moon. "I think it looks like-" She glanced up. Where'd she go? It was only then that she caught the scent of Spottedfrost and Wolfheart - and the scent of blood. She dashed back to the entrance, her eyes widening with shock at the sight of the injured warriors on the ground. "Do you need help?" She asked the medicine cat.

"Yes!" yowled Dawnwhisker to Sootpaw. "Go get the others quickly!" Frantically, Dawnwhisker sniffed along the two collapsed warriors' pelts. Both were still breathing - thank StarClan! Spottedfrost didn't appear to have any serious wounds, more likely just exhaustion. Wolfheart, on the other paw, had a gash at his temple that was still oozing blood.
Dawnwhisker called out to Sootpaw, "Bring some cobwebs back with you, hurry!" She had burdock root to stem infection and poppy seeds for pain back in the medicine den. But the first order of business was to stop this loss of blood, or ... she shuddered at the thought. As gently as she could, she lifted Wolfheart's head above the level of his heart to slow the blood flow to the wound.

Hawkstar's ears twitched and he raised his head. "Yes...she does. But I think it's more than that." he replied to Orchidtail, getting to his paws quickly and padding out of the nursery. He followed the sounds of the cats and the smell of blood till he reached Wolfheart and Spottedfrost. He looked to Dawnwhisker. "What's wrong with them?" he asked, looking to his warriors with concern.

"We need to get Spottedfrost to the warriors' den where she can get some rest. Send an apprentice in with some water-soaked moss for her when she wakes," Dawnwhisker answered. "I'll treat Wolfheart in the medicine den if you can help me carry him in there. He's got a gash here on his temple." Where was Sootpaw with those cobwebs?
The stench of badger hung over the two warriors. It was all too clear that the FrostClan warriors' message was true: a badger was in RainClan territory!

Hawkstar nodded, a deep frown on his face. "Frostclan was right...but it seems they were a little too late." he said thoughtfully, then grabbed the scruff of Wolfheart's neck, pulling him into camp and to the medicine den. "Hold on my friend....

Spottedfrost's eyes fluttered open. "There's a badger in RainCaln territory!" she yowled. She struggled, shaking. "Wolfheart blinded him but he's thundering through the forest toward the camp!" She collapsed again of exhaustion. "Where's Wolfheart? Is he alright?"

Maplepaw called to Woopdaw to help. "Can you fetch water and cobwebs?" She dug her teeth into Spottedfrost's scruff and pulling her towards the warrior den. The scent of blood and badger was overwhelming and she thought she would be sick any second. She was glad that Spottedfrost wasn't severly injured but she couldn't help but worry. "It's okay," she meowed through teeth and fur," Everything's fine."

Sootpaw trotted into the medicine cat den, looking around frantically. Cobwebs, cobwebs... She finally found a bundle, and picked them up gently in her jaws. Catching sight of Hawkstar dragging Wolfheart toward the den, she scurried over. "Here, Hawkstar, Dawnwhisker." She gently pulled a piece from the wad of cobweb. "I press these against his wounds, right?" She asked her mentor, trying to keep her voice calm. "Does Spottedfrost need anything?" She added after a moment, watching her half-sister as she was brought to the warriors' den.
"Um, okay," Woodpaw muttered nervously, looking around. What's happening? There was a strange scent in the air - blood, mixed with another one he couldn't quite recognize. "Oh, wait a minute! This is... this is the badger, right?" He'd never seen one before, and in his excitement forgot the seriousness of the situation. "I think I get it now! Wow, a badger!" Oh, right... cobwebs. Water. He was about to stumble over to Dawnwhisker, but instead turned back to Maplepaw. "You don't need any, erm, help with that, do you?" He mumbled quickly.

"Thank you, Sootpaw. Let's first gently clean Wolfheart’s wound by squeezing moss soaked with water and chervil juice on it." Dawnwhisker busied herself chewing up burdock root and marigold while Sootpaw cleaned the wound. Then, she put the mixture onto the wound to ward off infection, and asked Sootpaw to cover the wound with the cobwebs. She then prepared a mixture of chamomile and dandelion leaves to give to Wolfheart for shock.
“Sootpaw, you should go ahead to the Gathering with Hawkstar and the others,” encouraged Dawnwhisker. “I’ll stay here with Wolfheart. Spottedfrost is resting in the warriors' den. I'll check in on her soon. Give my greetings to the other medicine cats and their apprentices. I’ll see them at half-moon.”

Spottedfrost sighed as they placed her down. She trembled slightly, the ground cold, the air cold. Everything was cold. As they apprentices' padded away, she called, "Wait! What about Wolfheart? Is he OK? Tell me!" The chocolate tabby shook. Why won't anybody talk to me? Is something terribly wrong?

With Wolfheart resting peacefully in the medicine den, Dawnwhisker padded over to the warriors' den to check on Spottedfrost. "Spottedfrost, how are you feeling?" asked the medicine cat. "Do you feel up to eating a bite yet?"

When the tired she-cat heard RainClan's medicine cat's voice, her head whipped up. "How is Wolfheart? Is he alright?" Spottedfrost tried to sit up but it hurt. Her paws ached, her back ached. Every limb in her body ached as if she had fought three battles in a row. I guess I'm not as strong as I thought I was... She processed Dawnwhisker's words. "No, I'm not alright. I hurt all over." The chocolate warrior groaned, her legs shaking with pain as she fell to the ground, defeated. "I don't like badgers..."

"You're alright, Spottedfrost. You're safe now," Dawnwhisker mewed. "Let me go get some herbs for you." She rushed into the medicine cat's den and picked out some ragwort leaves and juniper for aches and pains. Using her teeth, she smushed the two together into a mixture and rushed back to the warriors' den with the mixture in her paws. She put the crushed leaves on the ground. "See if you can eat these; they'll help with the pain," she told Spottedfrost.
"Don't worry, Wolfheart's fine," Dawnwhisker mewed, not mentioning that he was still unconscious. "At least he's not bleeding anymore, and his wounds should heal quickly. He's in my den right now." I'd better go check on him, she thought. What if he's awoken and cracked that wound on his temple open? "I'll be back soon." She stroked Spottedfrost's head with her tongue and dashed over to her den to check on Wolfheart.

Spottedfrost breathed in relief. He's alright! Wolfheart's alright! Everything will be OK! She sniffed the mixture in front of her, reeling back at the stench. She tentatively licked up a little bit and stopped, wrinkling her face in disgust. Eat it, you mousebrain! Do you want to get better or not? Squeezing her frosty blue eyes shut, the tabby warrior gulped the mush down, swallowing painfully. Don't worry, Wolfheart, I'll be alright. She gingerly got up onto her feet, taking one step at a time toward the medicine cat's den. She reached the entrance where she found Dawnwhisker tending to the stone gray warrior, her best friend. He was unconcious. She stopped dead in her tracks. "You said he was alright!" Spottedfrost accused angrily. She rushed painfully to his side, glaring at the medicine cat. "We never should have let you in to the Clan, you-you...you kittypet!" She began frantically licking Wolfheart's limp head. "It'll be alright, Wolfheart. You saved my life, and I'll make sure you'll wake up so I can say thank you."
(ooc: I feel really bad for being mean to Dawnwhisker. ;_; Spottedfrost is so lovesick for Wolfheart...It's so cute. And extremely over protective. Like I said...I feel really bad for my accusitory evilness directed at Dawnwhisker...

Dawnwhisker remained calm, taking no offense at Spottedfrost’s emotional outburst. “There, there, Spottedfrost. Wolfheart is recovering well. He will wake when his body is ready.” She knew the aching she-cat cared greatly for Wolfheart. She also knew she needed rest herself after a run-in with the badger. “Why don’t you curl up next to Wolfheart and sleep here in the medicine den, too?” Dawnwhisker suggested.
Ooc: Dawnwhisker thought to herself – he’ll wake up when heartnet (Cat) logs in, you mouse-brain. You think StarClan’s going to reveal that to me in a dream?? Sorry, just couldn’t resist ;D

Spottedfrost hissed at the medicine cat. "Get away you useless piece of fox dung!" she snarled. She wrapped her tail protectively around the stone gray tom, lying motionless on the ground of the den. She curled closer to he friend, resting her head on his neck. "It's alright, Wolfheart. You're safe. I'll protect you..." she murmured soothingly, even though he couldn't hear her. You should apologize to Dawnwhisker... She closed her eyes, giving Wolfheart one last lick between the ears. I'll do it later... The tabby warrior thought, moments before she drifted off to sleep.

Ahhh... sighed Dawnwhisker. Such is the tongue-lashing we medicine cats must bear sometimes when our Clanmates are in distress. She knew better than to take it personally.
She was glad to see the two brave warriors getting some much needed rest. While they slept, Dawnwhisker tip-toed out of her den to get some fresh air. The moon was setting. The others would be home soon from the Gathering. She was anxious to hear what they had learned from the other Clans and what Hawkstar had shared.

Rainwing padded back into camp after hunting, carrying a mouse and vole between her teeth. Her eyes wandered around the clearing, quickly spotting Dawnwhisker sitting outside her den. The luminescent gray warrior walked over to the medicine cat. "How are they?" She murmured quietly, dropping the mouse in front of the fluffy she-cat. Rainwing felt drawn to Dawnwhisker simply because she was like her in a way. Not forest born and trying to prove herself. "Will they need any fresh-kill?"
Darkstorm yawned, opening his eyes to slits to the take in what's happening in the camp. He noticed Rainwing and Dawnwhisker near the medicine cat den. His fur instinctively rised at the sight of the gray warrior. Dawnwhisker he trusted...Rainwing not so much. His legs felt stiff but he stayed clear of the glowing warrior and her. He bit back a growl, stretching his limbs silently and glancing over to the camp entrance. How long does it take to share news? Yes, he was cranky, but his limbs were stiff and the ever-looming threat of death was weighing on his shoulders. He sighed and sat down near the entrance to his den, listening to the quiet sounds of night-time. He sighed again looking up at the stars. Soon, I'll be one of them as well... The thought made him shudder.

Dawnwhisker smiled at Rainwing. "Thank you," she mewed, scooting the mouse into the den with her paw. "I think Spottedfrost and Wolfheart will need this to regain their strength. Once they wake up, that is. And yes, the two warriors are recovering." I wonder why Spottedfrost is so worried about Wolfheart, she thought. Are they in...love...? She turned her head toward Darkstorm. "Good evening," she mewed, bowing her head. "Would you like to come sit with us and wait for the others to return from the Gathering?"
OOC: I'm sorry I haven't been on lately.

Darkstorm shook his head. "No," he said quietly. "I'm fine." He tucked his paws under his chest as he lay down, eyeing the gray warrior suspiciously. He then turned away from them and looked toward the entrance. They'll be here any moment. Soon.
Rainwing saw that the respected elder was looking at her. Nobody seemed to trust her since the awful day when the AquaClan warrior had caught her, her brother, Brackenstripe, and her father, Storm. She shuddered slightly at the thought. She looked back at Dawnwhisker. "Well, that's good at least. I never knew two warriors could take on a badger and blind it. It's a miracle they're both not dead." She sighed, licking her paw and swiping a paw over her cheek. "We sure do owe Spottedfrost and Wolfheart a lot for this, or we could have lost a warrior because of it." We still could, a nagging voice said inside her. Shut up! Rainwing told herself. I'm sure RainClan can deal with it.

Wolfheart's eyes fluttered slightly and he opened them slowly and groggily. The pain in his head was back, but Morningstar's words rang through his head with every throb of the headache. He tried to lift his head, but was stopped by two things, the pain that shot through his neck and the weight on him. He blinked the sleep from his eyes more and his gaze focused on Spottedfrost. How long had he been unconscious and in Starclan? He must have worried her. Other than being exhuasted, she looked fine. Thank goodness. He licked hr cheek gently. Trying not to move his head too much, he slipped out from under her, getting to his paws. He really should be laying down and resting, but he needed something for this pain. His eyes caught sight of the full moon. 'Most of them must be at the Gathering.....maybe Dawnwhisker or Sootpaw is still here.' he thought before hearing Dawnwhisker's voice. He padded slowly, trying not to move his head too much. "Dawnwhisker....?" he asked quietly, poking his head out of the medicine den.

Rainwing jumped at the sound of Wolfheart's voice. She turned. He was looking at Dawnwhisker. "I'll let you take care of Wolfheart now." She dipped her head respectfully before padding away, leaving the new medicine cat with the injured warrior. She steered clear of Darkstorm, who she didn't want to annoy and headed for the warriors' den. She curled up in her nest with the rest of the warriors' that didn't go to the Gathering and fell asleep almost instantly.
Spottedfrost felt the warmth of Wolfheart's body leave even in her sleep. She blinked her eyes open groggily. She jumped up painfully, glancing around frantically. Dawnwhisker wasn't in the den and neither was Wolfheart. I really need to apologize... She dragged her tired body out of the den, finding Dawnwhisker and Wolfheart. She came up beside the medicine cat. "I'm sorry for snapping Dawnwhisker. I was upset. I hope you forgive me."

Wolfheart looked to Spottedfrost as she padded up beside him. He let some of his weight lean against her as he brushed his pelt against hers. He blinked in confusion at what she was talking about, then smiled slightly. Spottedfrost's tongue must have gotten the better of her. "I didn't cause too much trouble for you, did I Dawnwhisker?" he asked, giving her a sheepish smile that stretched across his handsome face.

Dawnwhisker purred to Wolfheart, "No trouble at all, Wolfheart. I'm just glad to see you up and about. There's a fresh mouse back in the den for you. I'll bring more if your appetite is back." She looked at Spottedfrost warmly indicating that there were no hard feelings. "Stretch your legs a bit, both of you. It's good for the circulation. But, we should get you back inside for more rest soon. " She turned and headed back inside her den so the two warriors could have a moment alone. She went to the back of the den to fetch some pain-relieving herbs and berries.

Wolfheart nodded to Dawnwhisker in respect. "Yes Dawnwhisker, I'll be in shortly, my head is killing me." he said, smiling before turning back to Spottedfrost. "I'm glad you're okay. Sorry for making you worry, but thanks for saving me." he said, nuzzling her cheek gently with affection. Then he grinned playfully. "You didn't give Dawnwhisker a tongue lashing because of me did you?" he said, nudging her shoulder.
