Spottedfrost scuffled her feet sheepishly. "Yes," she murmured. "And you saved me from the badger. If you hadn't blinded him, we both could be dead." She licked his cheek.

Wolfheart smiled sheepishly. "It was nothing. Didn't want to see the clan or you hurt." he said quietly, his pelt burning with embarrassment as she licked his cheek. He turned to go back into the den, his tail running over her shoulder lightly. "Come on,let's get those herbs from Dawnwhisker, I'm exhausted." he said, yawning as if to show his point.

Spottedfrost looked up, watching as Wolfheart padded into the medicine den. She was tired. She followed him, making sure he was a tail length in front of him. "Me too," she murmured. She lay down in the moss nest that was her temporary bed.
Darkstorm, seeing that Rainwing was no longer with Dawnwhisker, padded over to the den, slipping inside. "Dawnwhisker, my legs feel stiff." He sat down, yawning silently, watching as Spottedfrost lay down, and Wolfheart went up to the medicine cat himself.

Dawnwhisker smiled. "Wolfheart, go ahead and lie down with Spottedfrost while I get something for Darkstorm. I'll bring something over to you in just a second." She licked his cheek and quickly checked the wound on his temple. It looked good. She gave Darkstorm some daisy leaves. "Try to eat all of these," she encouraged, "they'll help ease the stiffness."
Dawnwhisker selected some feverfew and poppy seeds and padded over to the two warriors. "Wolfheart, here is some feverfew for your headache. Eat it and try to sleep. Here are some poppy seeds for general pain. You can both take a few seeds to ease your pain so you can sleep. Also, this mouse was brought here from Rainwing. See if you can both eat a little."
Dawnwhisker returned to check on Darkstorm. She picked up a clump of ragwort leaves and mushed it together with some juniper. She then rubbed the mixture onto his legs hoping the massage would ease the stiffness. Dawnwhisker purred as she worked.

Wolfheart had woken and Spottedfrost seemed okay. All was well. Maplepaw tried to smile happily but found she couldn't. She had panicked when she was meant to help Spottedfrost and the scent of blood was too much. The pain in her leg wasn't helping. She buried her nose into her ginger fur wondering what sort of warrior she would be. If I ever become one. What sort of warrior can I be if I have a permanent limp? Tussockpaw would become a warrior soon and like always, she would be left behind. Mum will be so disappointed. First Sunpaw and now me... Glumly, she rose to her paws and padded over to medicine cat den. Dawnwhisker was preparing a poultice for Darkstorm. Everyone was waiting Hawkstar's and the other cat's return. She cleared her throat nervously. "D-Dawnwhisker..."

Spottedfrost licked up to poppy seeds before lying back down. She looked at the mouse wearily, but didn't make a move to eat any. She put her head in her paws, shutting them tightly. She didn't want to see any of this. She didn't want the mouse, or the poppy seed, or the den, she just wanted peace, silence, sleep. But her mind was whirling, pictures she couldn't decifer. It was all a blur but enough to make sure she wouldn't get any sleep tonight.
Darkstorm chewed up the daisy leaves, the taste so familiar that they didn't taste as bad as they did when he first had to eat them. She eased up as Dawnwhisker came back over and began rubbing the ragwort and juniper, a mixture Sleetpelt used to use herself, onto his stiff legs. It won't be long now. Soon, all this pain will be gone, but I'll be living in StarClan...

"Yes, dear?" Dawnwhisker said softly to Maplepaw as she continued to massage Darkstorm's legs. She could sense him relaxing. Maplepaw seemed hesitant. "Maplepaw, what is it?" Dawnwhisker asked. And, she looked directly into the young apprentice's eyes with the utmost concern while she continued to gently rub the elder's stiff legs.

She kneaded the ground with her paws. When she realsied what she was doing she stopped. You're being ricduculous! She lowered her amber eyes as Dawnwhisker's concerned stare became too much. "Am I going to become a warrior?" she asked quietly. She had finally said it. Ever since the battle she had been wondering if he injury would allow her to become a warrior. She was late to begin training and then her mentor had died. Maplepaw's tail trembled as she waited for Dawnwhisker's reply.

Dawnwhisker closed her eyes and paused. I don't know what to say, she thought. What should I tell her? "There's always hope," she finally choked out, nuzzling Maplepaw as she spoke. "StarClan has a purpose for each of us, and you will find yours. Don't judge your progress against that of Tussockpaw. You have your own path to follow." Dawnwhisker spoke truthfully, but encouragingly to Maplepaw. She was unsure if Maplepaw would fully recover from her injury, but there was hope. Certainly, it had set Maplepaw back a bit in training, but if her destiny was to be a warrior, she would reach her goal if she kept at it. OOC: Ali, what direction do you want to go with Maplepaw?

Wolfheart nodded to Dawnwhisker, showing his gratification. "Thank you Dawnwhisker." he replied, taking the fecerfew and poppy seeds. He knew that feverfew didn't have the best taste, but it was worth it to stop the pain. He ate it and some poppyseeds, laying down and curling up against Spottedfrost. He laid his head down on his paws, closing his eyes tiredly. Soon enough, he was fast asleep, his flank rising and fallin slowly.

occ: Maplepaw's just being paranoid. I orginally thought about her having to retire as an Elder but I wasn't completely sure about it in relation to her injury... I want to do something that will change her lifestyle but I'm unsure of what exactly.
bic: A rumbling purr rose from Maplepaw's chest. Medicine cats always seemed to have the sweetest scents. She loved the smell of the herbs. Maybe it was because she had spent so much of her life in the medicine cat den. "Thank-you Dawnwhisker," she meowed, courage returning to her voice. "I shouldn't be so hard on myself. I just know I can become a great warrior if I try!" Somewhat happier she left the den and limped away. She couldn't ignore Dawnwhisker's shaky start to her reply though. She probably shouldn't of ambushed the medicine cat like that. She has enough problems of her own without me throwing mine in.

Dawnwhisker smiled as Maplepaw left, noticing the limp wasn't all that bad. "You'll be a great warrior!" she mewed.
Dawnwhisker looked over at Spottedfrost and Wolfheart curled up across the den. Wolfheart was sound asleep, but Spottedfrost seemed a bit restless. She would probably have slept better back in her own den, but Dawnwhisker didn't dare suggest it.
Had Darkstorm fallen asleep? Oh well, sighed Dawnwhisker. Sootpaw should be back soon, she thought. She needed to check on Orchidtail; the kits were coming soon!

Darkstorm shook his head, waking himself up. "Thank you Dawnwhisker," he rasped. He heaved himself up, padding toward the entrance to the den. He eased himself into his own den, and curled up, falling asleep soon after.
Spottedfrost fidgeted for what had to be the fiftieth (SP?) time in just a few moments. She sat up, glaring at absolutely nothing. "I can't sleep," she complained to Dawnwhisker. "I don't know why. I apologized to you for being mean, I've already thanked Wolfheart for saving me, and I don't think I have anything else to do. So why can't I sleep!?" She huffed, sulking. Grr...
