Whitestar padded through the field, constantly checking the scent and nervously looking around. Ever since they had noticed a strange orange light coming from AquaClan camp a few days ago, he had been meaning to send a patrol out in the area. The leader had purposefully brought a large patrol: Skylight, Doveheart, Cinderflame, and Dashfoot were coming along. He noticed a shift in the wind and deeply sniffed the air. Wincing, he mewed, "Anybody else notice that smell?" Bluepool was right--it was a fire! Despite being closer to the border with BeachClan, AquaClan territory was still in plain sight. They were almost as far from camp as they could be without leaving the territory. Tentatively, he broke from the group and quickly scent-marked a rock lying near the border before returning to his spot amongst the patrol.

Doveheart followed her leader quietly. She didn't know what to say. A strange orange light had come up in AquaClan territory a few days ago and now they were checking the borders more frequently than needed. Nothing had happened, right? Was Whitestar being paranoid, or was it just necessary precautions? She'd never know how to be a leader.
Cinderflame lagged behind the group, his paws aching and tired. He hadn't gotten much sleep last night. He picked up his pace, dragging his paws. He caught up with Dashfoot, who had been strangely nice to him lately. He didn't know what to say, so he just set his pace along his Clanmate's.

Skylight was quiet, not her at all. She was very careful onto not make a sound while walking over leaves. Leaf-fall is coming soon in their territory. It wasn't good. Prey would be very scarce and that's not very helpful. She sniffed the air and scent only a mouse. "Whitestar, this isn't like our territory at this time, their isn't any prey," she meowed. She was quiet and didn't know if her leader heard her. She sniffed the air once more. "Twolegs," she hissed. "Whitestar, I think Aquaclan had a fire, Twolegs are crawling everywhere!" she reported. She was acting like an apprentice, telling everything that everyone already knows.

Dashfoot tipped his head in surprise as Cinderflame began to pad alongside him. As he could recall, the grey warrior had always been somewhat, well, removed, from the rest of the clan, and it was somewhat pleasant to see him come forward from his position at the back of the patrol. He wasn't quite sure whether he should talk or not, however - he didn't want to make the other cat feel uncomfortable. Instead, he contented himself by watching the rest of the patrol. He realized, oddly enough, that most of them were younger than him - it was strange, as it didn't seem all that long since he'd first joined the clan. How quickly we're all growing up. However, the strange smell in the air was beginning to pull him from his thoughts. It was the scent of fire, and judging from Whitestar's nervous actions and the general mood of the group, the rest of them knew it too. "Twolegs?" he meowed inquisitively, noticing the smell only after Skylight had mentioned it. If there was a forest fire, he supposed the Twolegs would probably be as curious as they were - though he certainly wasn't all too happy at the idea of them swarming around the clan territories.
Lightstream paused for a second time, wondering whether she'd caught the scent she was looking for. A FrostClan patrol? It had only been there for a moment, but she'd thought she'd scented more than one cat. Should I go back to tell the others, or stay here to see whether a patrol's actually coming this way? She took a step closer to the point where the BeachClan scent met with that of FrostClan. Or... No, there was no way she'd step onto FrostClan territory. Wasn't that breaking the warrior code? Instead, she stood her ground, waiting for the rest of her own patrol.

"Yeah," Whitestar meowed to both cats. "I'm guessing that one thing led to another and it scared half our prey off--did you see something?" The skinny albino tom whirled around, making his fur slightly fluff up. He was sure that he had caught a glimpse of something moving on BeachClan territory. He sniffed the air to no avail; they were upwind from the figure he had seen. "I swear I saw a cat on BeachClan territory..." He cleared his throat and meowed to his patrol in a low voice, "Stay where you are. If they set paw on our territory then clear them off. We don't need to give them any reason to attack us." Whitestar crouched down so that only his ears and shoulderblades were visible amongst the snow-frosted grass, although hiding was a bit easier for him due to his small size.

ooc; on Beachclan patrol, I believe it has Stormcloud, Duskkfur, Lightstream, and I think there is one more, but can't remember.
bic; Skylight froze as she heard her leader's order. She looked around and saw something moving on Beachclan territory too. It was either Whitestar and herself were going crazy, or there was a patrol getting pretty close to the border. The black-and-white she-cat lifted her pink nose up into the air and sniffed. The four old oak trees from Fourtrees smelled nice, compared to the nasty Beachclan markers. She crouched down and kept her eyes open.
Stormcloud walked quietly with his clanmates, heading toward Frostclan territory. "I smell Frostclan cats," he hissed to Duskfur. He had sent Lightstream ahead to check for a Frostclan patrol. He wondered if the she-cat had found anything, or had gone over the border. "Here, lets go a little faster and catch up with your sister," he whispered to Duskfur. He crept along the green grass in the forest. They were getting closer to Fourtrees. "Lets hope we don't start some kind of fight." he hissed loudly to himself.

Doveheart followed Whitestar silently, like she usually did. Her thoughts were on something else entirely, the black cat with the purple eyes in RainClan, to be exact. But she shook her head, trying to rid herself of the thoughts. When Whitestar thought he saw something on BeachClan territory, she narrowed her eyes, suddenly paranoid. Were they trespassing? Or was she exactly that, paranoid?
Cinderflame liked silence. It didn't feel awkward to him. It was comforting. So when Dashfoot didn't say anything, he felt pleased with his Clanmate. Maybe he was making a friend in FrostClan after all. He smiled to himself. But one little flash ruined it all. He swore he saw something, like Whitestar, across the border. A cat, perhaps? He shuddered, cold and suspicion alike.

Duskfur, who'd been pondering over something Stormcloud had said earlier, was quite taken by surprise when he heard the tom's voice once more. He turned swiftly, then, realizing what he'd said, nodded sharply - he was worried about how FrostClan would react if the BeachClan group was seen, but he wasn't going to argue. Nervously, he padded after the black-and-white warrior, trying to creep stealthily. He was unable to scent the FrostClan patrol at first, but as they grew closer to the border, he too caught the smell.
Lightstream, unaware of the rest of the BeachClan patrol approaching, kept her gaze focused on the field at the edge of the forest. She couldn't see any FrostClan cats from her location at the border, but the grass was long, and the patrol could easily be blocked from her view. The others are taking a while. Maybe they decided to hunt or something. Almost curiously, she stretched out her paw again. If the patrol didn't come soon, the BeachClan cats would need to stray onto the other clan's territory, right? Maybe it wouldn't make a difference... Without realizing her other options, she padded into the grass, nearly wincing at the sudden change in the scent all around her.
Arriving just as she padded onto the territory, Duskfur squeezed his eyes shut. Mouse-brain! What if they decide to fight? You can't take on a patrol by yourself! Learn to wait. He didn't dare say anything aloud, however, and looked nervously in Stormcloud's direction.
Dashfoot spun around at the sound of rustling grass near the BeachClan border. "Did you hear that?" He whispered to the patrol, following Whitestar's example and crouching. Whoever this cat was, they weren't doing all that much to conceal themselves. He looked to his leader, awaiting an order.

Doveheart jumped when the sound came from the BeachClan border. "What do you think it means?" she asked softly, crouching lower to the ground and narrowing her eyes. "Do you think they're attacking?" She looked toward her leader for guidance.

"I don't know," Whitestar replied slowly, "but they're definitely trespassing. Let's try sneaking up on whatever it is." Still keeping his body tucked in a crouch, the leader silently made his way through the pale grasses until the disturbance in scent from this BeachClan cat was plainly noticeable. I can even smell where she walked! How weird is this? Of course, the Clans had very different scents due to the fact that they lived in very different territories.

Thornheart scampered quickly to Whitestar. "I was just hunting by a close border between Aquaclan" He huffed "There was in fact a fire and it's completely destroyed the Aquaclan camp!" He meowed, slightly alarmed. Hazelwing padded next to Icestar. "We're getting closer" He murmered.

Owlspot hurtled through the forest, following the patrol's scent trails. He began recognising a few of the individual scents. There was Duskfur's, the black and brown tom, and Lightstream's, the tortoiseshell. When Lightstream's scent parted from the group and veered to the border without the others he became confused. Where are they going? "Lightstream? Duskfur?" he yowled, in between panting. Following her scent, and then the rest of the patrol's, he pushed through the undergrowth and entered ForstClan territory. A full FrostClan patrol was positioned not far away and with a sickening jolt, Owlspot realised how vulnerable he was. He stood in the open, sides heaving and throat burning. To Whitestar, for he could see the bright white pelt, he would look like a mouse-brained AquaClan warrior who was hoping to snatch some easy prey. In truth, all he wanted to do was give them his message.

Duskfur winced at the sound of a voice calling his name - someone must have followed them from the BeachClan camp. The voice sounded familiar, and he peered slowly from his position in the sparse forest undergrowth to see the cat follow Lightstream's scent onto FrostClan territory. He recognised the cream pelt of the AquaClan warrior Owlspot - though he hadn't been focusing all that much on which AquaClan cats had made it to their camp, he remembered him from the Gathering. He was worried at the fact that an AquaClan cat had followed them - had he managed to find the secret entrance the BeachClan patrol had used? No, maybe he'd just found the trail later... He looked to Stormcloud once more, hoping the black-and-white tom could tell what he was trying to ask. Should we follow them?
Lightstream turned, blinking. Had someone just called her name? Maybe the patrol was back. However, as she turned, the cat she saw was not anyone from BeachClan - it was Owlspot. "Oh!" she called to the AquaClan warrior cheerfully. "Hillo!" She began to pad toward him, unaware of the fact that he was watching something else -the FrostClan patrol.
"So it's true then," Dashfoot murmured, looking down as Thornheart explained about the fire. "We were thinking that..." He raised his head sharply, catching another scent along with that of the BeachClan cat. AquaClan? Have they come here together? A voice spoke, much louder than the quiet ones the FrostClan cats were using, and he tipped his head in interest and confusion.

Cinderflame's eyes narrowed, watching the AquaClan warrior call for BeachClan cats. What's with that? Are they attacking us together? Well, they did have a fire...maybe BeachClan is providing shelter for the homeless cats. But either way, the grey tom didn't like this at all.
Doveheart's eyes widened in disbelief. BeachClan and AquaClan? Aren't they in the middle of a fued? She shook her head, trying to make sense of her jumbled thoughts. She turned to Whitestar, asking, "What should we do?"

"Get them," Whitestar whispered to his Clanmates. "If they want our prey then they've got another thing coming." He slunk off to a patch of taller grass that was closer to the border than his current position. The leader flattened himself against the ground while keeping his muscles ready to spring up and attack anyone who came his way.

Stormcloud heard the Frostclan say 'Get them.' "Beachclan, Owlspot, they're going to attack, attack once they make a single move toward us." he hissed, only to let the cats with him here. He let out a snarl. "We're here for another reason of for what you think!" Stormcloud's teeth bared and his hunches were ready for a single, long leap. His ears were pricked up and was ready to attack. This is their territory, they attack first, he thought, trying to control himself.
Stormcloud looked at Owlspot and nodded his head quickly, showing him a signal, for the right moment. Be still you fur-ball... he thought. He walked over to the tom slowly. "I need you to go and get Flaxeyes, sneak her and Blackleaf out of camp. Blackleaf will keep his mouth shut, unless he's caught, trust me," he whispered into his ears. He gave him one last nod and backed up and was back next to Duskfur and Lightstream. "You two know the plan." he meowed with a grin and a small nod. He was dying to fight these mouse-brains, but it for because these mouse-brains don't know what they're doing.
Skylight lifted her head and scanned the Beachclan patrol. She noticed Owlspot. She gasped quietly. What is Aquaclan doing with Beachclan? she thought. Then she scanned a little more slowly and caught sight of, Dad! What in the name of Starclan are you doing here, I'm not fighting you! she thought. "I can't let no cat hurt him.[/i] she thought. Her eyes glittered, she was ready to back out of this fight, she couldn't watch this. "Blackleaf would know what to do." she whispered.
Stormcloud looked at all the Frostclan warriors. He saw Skylight. "Duskfur, I can't do this." he whispered. "I know this isn't like me but my daughter is in that patrol." he whispered. He shook his eyes and he blinked slowly. "You know what, I'll fight the small tom." he meowed with a smile. He looked at Whitestar. He looked at the ground for another second to think about Skylight, he took a breath and lifted his head back up.

Owlspot gave a breathy hello to Lightstream and was about it give tell her his message when Stormcloud approached. As the tom spoke Owlspot stared at him as if the BeachClan warrior had grown wings and asked him to live amongst the birds. "Do you want to kill us all?!" he whispered harshly. His head whipped back towards where te FrostClan patrol was hiding. He could scent at least five cats. "We're out numbered! Do you expect to fight them, win and then ask if we can borrow their medicine cat?" Owlspot shook his head in a desperate attempt to clear his thoughts. "Look," he whispered urgently," I'm fast but those cats chase rabbits. Even if I did make it their camp what makes you think I would be welcome? They would rip my pelt off before Flaxeyes could cry,'Brother!'" He groaned inwardly and lashed his tail. "I won't fight Flaxeyes friends. I won't fight some petty battle because you want me to," he hissed softly at Stormcloud.

Duskfur followed Stormcloud as he moved toward the border, his steps slow and shaky. As he reached FrostClan's territory, he paused, wincing. Once he was on the other side, the chances that he'd get away without fighting were slim - unless he ended up running away again, and if that happened, he'd probably be in trouble. However, he was still afraid to contradict Stormcloud, despite the fact that Duskfur was annoyed at his giving orders. It seemed like the black-and-white tom was acting as if he were the clan leader - though Duskfur wondered whether the warrior was simply taking control of the patrol because he himself had failed to do so. There was little time to ponder over that now. The dark warrior crouched as low as he could in attempt to hide himself in the meadow grass, and slunk onto the other clan's territory with his belly brushing against the ground. As he approached the other cats who'd come from the BeachClan camp, he was surprised to hear Stormcloud's voice near him - and what the tom said surprised him so much that he wasn't quite sure what to say in response. His daughter? He remembered when Stormcloud had first appeared in BeachClan, and the way Icestar had greeted him. He and Icestar are mates - meaning his daughter... Icestar's daughter - is in FrostClan. Why is he telling me this? He took a moment to think. Is it because he thinks I'm to afraid of him to say anything? The thoughts were building on each other; overwhelming him. Well, I can't do this either, he almost said. I'm too scared to fight them. However, all he did was stay completely still, and completely silent - he was also too scared to move.
Lightstream edged toward Stormcloud, still unable to sense the tension in the air. "So we're gonna attack them? Is that the plan?" she asked, a little louder than she probably should have. She wasn't positive, but it certainly seemed the most likely thing. "So are we, um, doing it now?" There was something she knew she should be remembering at this point - one of the basics of the warrior code she'd learned as an apprentice. "Oh, wait, wait!" she meowed suddenly. "We never attack another cat on his own territory! I got it, didn't I?"
Dashfoot watched Skylight looking over the territory and the invading group of cats, and murmur something. His expression changed to one of slight concern - he wondered whether something was wrong. He leaned toward the young warrior. "You okay?" he whispered casually, before looking back to Whitestar - as much as he wished that each cats' own thoughts of the anticipated battle could be considered, there was no time for it. He began to move forward, preparing to attack the other group. They're trespassing on our territory - it's our duty to protect it, right?

Doveheart's pelt prickled. We're attacking them? She gulped, her black and white fur ruffling in a small breeze. The warrior didn't like to fight. But if her Clan...her family, was going to attack the BeachClan and AquaClan cats, then she would follow. She sighed, slinking forward with ease, silent as an owl.
Cinderflame looked into the trees, imagining another battle that had become fatal. The battle against rogues where his foster mother, Rainflower, had died. He shuddered, thinking of the way he had dragged her back to camp, her blood soaking into his pelt. When he had laid her down in the middle of the camp, whispering into her ear, licking away the blood. When he had watched as the elders had taken her away to bury her, when he had cried out, following them. Laying there for days just looking at the ground where she lay as well.
Cinderflame shook his head. If FrostClan was in trouble, he'd be there for them. This wasn't some kind of thing he could back out of. With tears in his eyes, he crouched, waiting for the right moment to spring.

Stormcloud gave Owlspot just a harsh gaze. He was mad that this cat wasn't helping to protect and save Shadowsoul's kits. "Okay, whatever, Owlspot, but Shadowsoul's kits might die, she's dry. And Redwind is going to be kitting soon. It's up to you, not my choice, not my clan." he whispered and backed away. He nodded as the loud she-cat meowed. Icestar would know what to do... he thought. "We're out numbered, and we can't sent back help, unless Owlspot goes. Then, if not, we might be in the path of Starclan soon.[/i] he whispered to himself, under his breath.
Skylight flinched as she heard Dashfoot talk to her. "I'm fine," she meowed, a little shaky. This would be her first fight, and it could go into my father's life. "Dashfoot, we might need to give up. They have Aquaclan with them, what if it has to do with the fire!" she meowed, she new something wasn't right that Aquaclan was with Beachclan, and of course not, after their little quarrel. But it wasn't up to her, to say, no battle or not, it was Whitestar's choice this time.

Whitestar paused and backed up, keeping his thin frame mere inches above the ground so he could join the rest of his patrol. He had noticed them whispering about something... It couldn't hurt to try, now, could it? "What do they want?" he whispered, looking from Skylight to Doveheart to Dashfoot to Cinderflame. "I think I caught something about Flaxeyes, Blackleaf, and these queens called Shadowsoul and Redwind." The leader kept himself down but couldn't help flicking his pink eyes upward at the intruders. Are they here for prey or not? If they aren't then they can just say so.

"That's why I'm here!" Owlspot snarled," I didn't just leave my mate on whimsy! That BeachClan queen can't look after all the kits and Redwind can't risk suckling anymore because her own are coming!" He glanced back to the FrostClan patrol. He was starting to panic. I can't fight! Redwind needs me! "Stormcloud, we need Flaxeyes and Rainlight to help. Blackleaf possibly if that's who you prefer. I'm going to do this my way and you are not coming to stop me." His eyes were furious as he began walking towards Whitestar.

"No!" he hissed. "Here comes the fight." Stormcloud hissed to Duskfur. What in the world is he doing? He's going to get hurt one way or another. he thought. Stormcloud was gettting mad. He hissed once more and was ready to jump. He unsheathed his claws and his ears pricked forward. "Owlspot no!" he hissed, as he saw Skylight pounce. "Get out of our territory!" Skylight hissed. She just hooked onto his back, doing nothing to hurt him.

Whitestar's muscles tensed as he pondered Owlspot's words. "FrostClan...desist. We'll allow you to fetch them, but we're accompanying you the whole way. If you try to hurt Flaxeyes or Rainlight, we will attack you. Uh, Skylight, can you get off of him?" he finished, watching the warrior with slight apprehension. Skylight was listening to Whitestar's words and got off the tom and started walking away, pretty fast. "I need to talk to Blackleaf." she meowed to herself. She was noticing the mud was frozen as she passed the Lake. She noticed a black scrap of fur, on the other side of the river. Skylight looked closer as she started to walk along the muddy shore. It was Blackleaf. Blackleaf looked up and saw his sister. "Skylight? What happen to you being on the patrol?" he meowed loudly. He started wadding across the lake. He had more Beachclan blood in his as he thought he had. He started swimming. The black medicine cat finally made it across. "Dad was in a Beachclan patrol that had crossed the border. A Aquaclan warrior was with him." she meowed.

Owlspot was glad when Skylight released him. He had been crouched against the ground, ready to fling her off if needed, but he had decided to let FrostClan see that he was no harm. "Thank-you Whitestar," he meowed, licking his ruffled chest fur. "You know I would do nothing to hurt my sister and all of those she calls family." He smiled reassuringly at the albino tom. He glanced at the BeachClan warriors before asking," I suspose you are wondering what I'm doing with BeachClan, aren't you?" And why we want Rainlight and Flaxeyes... He found it odd how the warriors hadn't even began questioning their motives for coming to FrostClan in the first place. He was still in a little shock that Whitestar hadn't attacked them and sent them crying to their mothers.
