Whitestar was curled up under the roots of the tree that formed the warriors' den. His thick, fluffy pelt rose and fell with each breath. The leader appeared to be content at rest. Of course, he was pretty laid-back when awake, but...given recent events, so much stress had been put on him! The albino tomcat didn't like it either; it made him feel old. He already had too much on his plate. Leaf-bare is practically upon us. Bluepool is getting older and frailer, my best friend is about to have kits, and I think I'm in love...oh, StarClan, help! He stirred and a single leaf fell from the tree, landing softly on top of his head. Whitestar shook it off and slipped out from under the root. He took a few steps out before he found a puddle with a thin film of ice on top of it. Sighing, he examined his reflection. He seemed to be tired and looked a little thinner, despite his long, fluffy fur. No wonder Jaystar always looks so much like this. Ruling a Clan in tough times is next to impossible. On top of all this, his deputy had been awfully withdrawn lately. Perhaps Firetail would be the next to succumb to the sleeping sickness...no. He shook his head to clear the thought, not wanting to think about it. Instead, he placed his paw on the ice, breaking it into several sharp shards. This isn't me. I refuse to be someone I'm not just to lead FrostClan. I was doing fine as Whitefire and I'll be the same as Whitestar. What has happened to me?

Skylight just came in from solo hunting. Blackleaf is in Beachclan and, and. She's been really off track lately. Being out of camp til sunhigh? And she left at dawn. Before the sun came up! And she only caught two mice? Not only that prey was scarce but something was on her mind. Something that she couldn't get out of. Skylight's mind rung with nothing but mindless, mouse-brained thoughts. Her brother brother wasn't here to talk to. Her parents live in Beachclan. She couldn't talk to any kin. Skylight walked over to the fresh-kill pile. She was starving but 'wasn't hungry.' Skylight hasn't slept since Moonhigh last night but woke up right when the moon was barely still up in the sky. But for some odd reason she couldn't sleep either. It was hard for her and she new she wouldn't get better. "I'll do Blackleaf a favor." she meowed. Padding into the Medicine cat's den she noticed it was empty. "Rainlight must be gathering herbs." she breathed. The black-and-white warrior slipped into the den without making a noise and started to sniff around for some mouse-bile. She finally got the nasty smell in her head and grabbed and moss the nasty herb was on. She hoped that she wouldn't get the nasty smell in her mouth. Skylight walked into the Edler's Den. "Any ticks? Fleas?" she asked Bluepool.

Bluepool shook her head. "No, thankfully," she meowed. "It seems the cold has killed them all. That's one good thing about leaf-bare..." The elder sighed and wrapped her tail around her forelegs. "If you see Rainlight or Blackleaf, could you ask them to get me my herbs? My joints are stiffening again." She yawned widely, revealing sharp teeth nearly the same shade of white as her fur.

"No, Blackleaf is in Beachclan helping Quietshadow and Rainlight is collecting herbs." she meowed sadly. "Do you know what the herb was, Blackleaf taught me some herbs." Skylight's meow brightened. Wait, daisy leaves? Or ragwort leaves, and jupiter? "Bluepool, does Rainlight give you one herb or more than one?" Skylight meowed quickly. She wanted an answer like now. Skylight jumped to her black paws and grabbed the nasty smelling moss. Her tail flicked quickly, ready to burst.

A grey-blue she-cat padded up behind Whitestar. In her mouth she held a bundle of herbs. A little lavendar, thyme and feverfew for the upcoming leaf-bare. Rainlight had nearly managed to catch a mouse in the meadow but at a closer look she had found it a little to scrawny to bother with. Gently, she placed the herbs at the base of the old tree and then went over and sat down beside her leader. From a glance he looked stressed and tired. Rainlight knew how he felt as she had been under a little pressure before the BurntClan battle. But now that had passed and it was only dreams of being lost that were bothering her. She gave herself a mental shake. You can tell him later. Right now Whitestar needs a friend and not news of pointless dreams. "Whitestar, are you okay?" she asked, glancing down at the pool of cracked ice.

Firetail was curled up in a ball in the warriors' den, half awake, half asleep. Her stomach growled but she didn't care. She wanted to get up and do something but she felt so weak. She tried to stand up, but she just collapsed back down. She tried once more and actually did it. She padded outside, only to see Rainlight and Whitestar. Whitestar isn't looking so good. None of the clan is. What has happened since I last was awake? She froze. I've been asleep for way to long. No wonder I've been feeling weak and tired lately... Whitestar must be worried. Not just worried about his deputy but really the whole clan. She padded over to her leader and medicine cat and sat down, already her legs feeling tired. "Not a happy morning is it?" She sighed. ((OOC: I'm not interrupting anything, am I?))

"No and no," Whitestar meowed, stretching his paws out in front of himself so that they skirted the edge of the puddle and flopped down on his belly. "I've just...got this bad feeling about everything lately. Leaf-bare is practically here and it's not been very good to us so far. I'm always so cold at night. We should try and get a new warriors' den, or at least drag some brush over the current one to insulate it. Our clan is small enough that I don't need a den, although it would be a luxury..." He sighed and glanced from Bluepool to Skylight and back to Bluepool. "A lot of--what did Mom call it?--internal conflict. It's great that you're okay, though, Firetail," he added, beaming at his deputy.
Bluepool merely shrugged before yawning. "I have no idea, but Rainlight just got back and she put something under that tree over there"--she flicked her tail to indicate said tree--"but I don't know if those are mine or not. You could ask her." She lazily glanced at Skylight, blue eyes giving a faint reflection of the weak sunlight.
ooc: No, you're not. The more the merrier! :3

Skylight flicked her tail, impatient. Dipping her head quickly she walked slowly over to Rainlight, Whitestar, and Firetail. She had her eyes connecting to Whitestar for some reason. She couldn't take her smile and her bright blue eyes off of the tom. Her coat was clean and silky, her paws filled with dirt though. "Rainlight, Bluepool is wondering if you have her herbs for her." Skylight meowed. Skylight shut her eyes, thinking of the herbs again. "You use daisy leaves, ragwort leaves, and jupiter for Bluepool's sore joints correct?" she meowed, her eyes flashing open.

Firetail nodded in agreement about the warriors' den. Even though she slept right through everything, she still felt the cold breeze at night."I'm still tired and everything but yeah, I guess so. Definitely better than before." She meowed. Just then Skylight happened to walk over. She noticed that Skylight was staring at Whitestar. It's none of my business... Firetail ignored the thought and thought about what Whitestar had just said. Maybe we should get the warriors' opinions on it.

Rainlight looked up, startled by Skylight's question. She was even more surprised that the young warrior knew exactly what herbs were needed to treat stiff joints. "You know what herbs to use?" she asked, openly stunned. "There's some in my den if you know what it looks like." She lept over the roots of the old tree and picked up the bundle of herbs she was storing for leaf-bare. "There's a mouse here for someone!" she called.

"Blackleaf had taught me, while you were out of camp." Skylight purred, amused by Rainlight's surprised face. "Yes, they're are in the crack in the one wall of the den correct? Or are they on that small ledge?" Skylight's head tilted slightly, wanting to look a little smart by the fact she knew where most things were.

"The juniper berries are on the ledge amongst the poppy seeds and yarrow. The daisy leaves are underneath there with the ragowrt leaves. I haven't time to mix them," she told Skylight. "Blackleaf really shouldn't be telling you such things. It is medicine cats knowledge only. While you are there could you take these herbs inside? Anywhere will do." She dropped the bundle of fragrant herbs at Skylight's paws before bounding off with her mouse. She had things to talk about with Whitestar. It annoyed her a little that Blackleaf was giving away his knowledge so freely. Did he not realise that it belonged to a medicine cat only? He never listens to a thing I say... She shook he head. It didn't matter at the moment. The dreams she had been having were what mattered.

Skylight kept her mouth shut and just picked up the herbs and headed toward the hidden den. Her pelt bristled as she walked through the snow cover fern bush. Her head started to hurt once she walked into the musky den. All she could smell was old herbs, drifting up her nose, making her go off balance. She toppled and turned and tried to get her way over to the ledge on the far side of the den. Jumping, slightly she laid the herbs down and picked up the daisy leaves and ragwort. She tried not the smell until she walked out of the den, then she felt perfectly fine. It's like her nose was too sensitive for the medicine den. Walking over to Bluepool. "These should be it," Skylight growled, pushing the herb toward the elder. She pushed a fresh set of moss, that hasn't been used yet. "Use this instead of your old one. I'll take it out of camp tomorrow." Skylight's eyes turned bright blue now, almost like cracked ice. "Do you mind if I stay here for a while?" she asked. She started to feel woosy again. The sent of herbs just rung her nose and wouldn't come out.

"No, go ahead and stay," Bluepool meowed, leaning down to pick up and chew her herbs. The elder swallowed them with a wince and shook her pelt. "Ugh. Never grow old, Skylight. All your friends are dead and you have to eat these awful-tasting herbs. At least it keeps me moving...sort of." To prove her point, she stretched out and started to get back up but stopped midway. Unable to continue the unbuckling of her legs, Bluepool flopped down on her side and got to her feet from there.
Whitestar yawned and glanced at Firetail. "So..." He paused after uttering that single word, wondering what topic to discuss with his deputy. "What do you think about...uh...anything?" Clearly, inspiration and creativity were not on his side.

Skylight plopped down and looked at the elder. "What are your latest kit stories?" Skylight teased. Her pelt started to lay down and grown cold. She wiggled for acouple minutes then started to fell confortable. "We need some apprentices to take care of you, these moss beddings feel old." Skylight moaned. She could see her breath infront of her. "Your joints probably hurt a lot because of these cold leaf-bare." Skylight's eyes became pale, after a cold drift filled the den with cold air.

Firetail sighed. There never is anything to ever talk about except for issues, and she didn't wan to talk about the issues. "Well... For the warriors' den, we should probably get the other warriors' opinions on what to do with the den." She paused, in thought. "I think we should get a new, big, den. That way if there ever will be any more warriors there will be enough room. Then, maybe we could turn the old den into yours."

Bluepool yawned. "We'll have apprentices soon enough, but by the time we do, leaf-bare'll be drawing to a close," she meowed flatly. "Maybe I should have a quick little chat with Flaxeyes before she kits. I'm the only former queen in this clan and she deserves a little warning on what's to come." The elder licked her lips, pondering Skylight's first question. "I'd say that my newest kit story has got to be the battle against BurntClan. That's history right there, that is."
"I wouldn't mind that," replied Whitestar. "But I'm putting FrostClan's priorities over my own. It's too cold to even bother and try to dig a new den and we'll have trouble constructing a new one for the same reason. I think we should find some bark and shrubs to try and fortify our current den, you know, make it warmer. A small clan is almost an advantage to surviving the winter here: we're all crammed together so our body heat is sufficently warm and if need be, we can still all fit into the elders' den." One of his least favorite things about being a leader was the fact that leaders would seldom retire to become elders. He had been looking forward to sleeping in that warm den. "I'll have to ask Flaxeyes if the nursery is warm enough for her."

ooc; in Beachclan, she is helping feed Shadowsoul's kit, only Mousekit, he is the only one not on fresh-kill. Hey I got a new keyboard for my new computer and sorry if the words are all messed, I'll be used to it in maybe two weeks
bic; Skylight sighed. She new the clan wasn't the fullest of prey, or the warmest weather, or even the most warriors. It basicly showed that they were a weak clan. "Bluepool, I would like to hear a story where Frostclan was big and full of prey and not so cold." she purred. The roar in her throat rumble. Her coat wasn't as big as usual, she had a history in Beachclan, what do you epect. Her green eyes were pale, not as usual and her coat wasn't groomed, she felt sick. But she then she didn't.

Bluepool smiled with delight and purred. "Oh, those were the days," she meowed, sighing softly. "I can't really say that FrostClan was ever full of prey--we never had the most--but it was certainly more abundant. All of the clans have had a reduction in the food supply since I was young. Stupid twolegs. "Anyways, I remember it like it was yesterday. I was young, about your age, and I was living happily in FrostClan with my sister and father. They both looked a lot like I do, although their names both had to do with leaf-bare weather and not the color of their eyes." She blinked her dark blue eyes once to prove her point. "This could probably be considered FrostClan's glory days. We had plenty of warriors and a very wise, skillful leader named Silverstar. He had a very shiny pelt--it would blind half the cats at Gatherings--but he was very susceptible to disease. Terrible, really. He lost four lives to a nasty bout of blackcough." She shook her head. "But, back to the more positive aspects of what once was. We had as much prey in the dead of leaf-bare as we do now in early leaf-fall. Our warriors were young and strong. Nobody was a match for us. RainClan tried invading a few times, which was foolish of them. They were lucky to get back home with their fur on." The elder laughed in a slightly maniacal way but kept talking. "Then there was the Great Rogue Invasion--I was barely an apprentice for that--but three young apprentices managed to drive off a huge rogue tomcat! How's that for the cats of the cold! "You know, Skylight, they say that all good things come to an end. They also say that history repeats itself. Would you like an account of the less fortunate events between then and now?"

Skylight laughed bewteen every sentance. "Incredable!" she meowed. Skylight lifted her chin and and looked at the elder. She tried to say something but she just laughed. "Was Oceanstar and apprentice with you? Or was she younger?" she asked, finally stopped laughing after that. "Bluepool, your too good of a mother and strong elder to be funny." she joked. She stood up. "Anything else before your son sends me hunting or something?" she giggled. Her purr then roared the whole den.

Bluepool laughed too before deciding that it was time to be serious and answer Skylight's penultimate question. "No. Oceanstar--or Oceanspray, as she was before she became leader--was much, much younger than me. If she were alive today, she'd still only be about half of my age. I believe that she was born a kittypet, but our leader back then--oh, StarClan, what what his name? Goldstar, I think--found her wandering around on our territory and accepted her into the clan. I saw her made an apprentice and a warrior...and then deputy and leader." She sighed softly. "She was something else, I tell you. But then she and Amberstar both died and Whitestar became leader. I was sort of questioning Amberstar's sanity when she appointed Whitestar--Whitefire back then, as I'm sure you'll remember--but he's turned out to be a fine leader, despite the fact that he's so young! He can't be any more than six moons older than you are."

Skylight purred. "So his training was probably just finished once I joined the clan?" she asked. Without an answer. "I have to go, I'm going on a solo Hunting patrol." she meowed. She walked out of the den and walked up to her leader. "I'm going hunting," she meowed. Skylight's black-and-white coat danced along with her skin as she pranced out of camp. Walking toward the meadow, she new maybe some mice were running around, trying to fine new homes, thanks to the fire. Her coat was thinner than ever, she wanted to maybe warm up. So she bolted quickly into the trees, with her tail close behind her.
