It's Hard to be an Elder

[Mikki]

Silverheart slowly woke up, her eyes fluttering as they opened. She wasn't fully awake yet and she meowed, "Hawkshadow, come back to me!" Her eyes suddenly opened widely and she stood. After stretching her legs, she meowed, "My paws are cracked and my joints ache. Someone help. And I'm hungry!" She sat and wrapped her tail around her cold forepaws. "Bring me a vole or a mouse or something, please."

[Lexie]

Silentstep flinched as she heard Silverheart yowl. "Keep dreaming. These apprentics are very slow. You'll better off limping to the fresh-kill pile." She moved unconfortably. She shifted some more. She wasn't meant to be a elder. She was only 30 moons old. Thanks to her limp, she had to retire to the elders.

[Mikki]

Silverheart grunted, annoyed, at Silentstep. "I guess so." she meowed back, but it came out more like a yap. She glared at Silentstep, her eyes boring into Silentstep. She gave a growl and turned her back on Silentstep. "Where are those mouse-brained apprentices?" she yowled, hoping for an apprentice to hear her.

[Lexie]

Silentstep looked at the grumpy old elder. Why did I have to join this stupid den early! She looked up at the roof of the den. She got to her paws. Silentstep poked her head out of the den. It was barely sun high. "Great." Stormcloud was just coming into camp with a rabbit in his jaws. "Eat up." The black and white warrior meowed. Silentstep gunted. "How can I do that when I have an old grump nagging at me!" Stormcloud frowned. He looked at his old mentor's hip. "Just don't do anything extreme with that."

Silverheart stared at Stormcloud appreciatively. "Thanks, Stormcloud." she grunted with grateful eyes. "Silentstep, I'm not nagging. I'm just hungry!" she snapped in Silentstep's face. She ripped the rabbit in half with her teeth and took it to the back of the den. "Just eat your rabbit, young one." She took a bite of the rabbit and chewed it slowly.

[Lexie]

Silentstep bared her teeth at the old cat. "Just leave me alone." She hissed. Silentstep looked at Stormcloud. "Any good news lately?" She meowed. She bit into her piece of the rabbit quickly. "Nope. Just the average day." The black and white tom sat down and started to groom his chest.

[Mikki]

Silverheart walked over to Stormcloud. She grinned and licked up the last pieces of her rabbit. "I wouldn't have talked to you, Silentstep, if you hadn't talked to me." she meowed, "So next time you don't like me talking to you, stay away and don't say a word." She looked back at Stormcloud with a sigh.

[Lexie]

Stormcloud looked at the elder with a blank look. "Need anything Silverheart?" He meowed. His voice cracked while he talked. The sun was starting to show through the clouds. "The clouds might just pass." The wind blew across his black and white face. His face was stern. His face was still blank.

[Mikki]

Silverheart looked at Stormcloud again. "Nope." she meowed, "I hope those clouds pass. I want to get some sunlight." She sighed and walked over to the entrance of the den. She shivered as the wind passed along her back, ruffling her fur. She stared at the ground and winced, remembering her past. The silence made her think, but when she thought, she thought about her horrible past.

[Lexie]

Silentstep was on top of the roof of the den. It was usually were she liked to get all of the sun. Though she wished that leafbare should hurry up fast. She stared at the clouds for a moment or two and then sighed. Sun, please come out. Then a small cloud stopped covering the source of light for a split second. Then another cloud covered the sun. Great.

[Mikki]

Silverheart chuckled at Silentstep and licked her paw. Dragging her paw over her ear, she meowed, "Oh, Silentstep, you're the funniest. Why can't we just be friends? I'm sorry about what I said earlier; I was just tired and when I'm tired, I'm grumpy." She licked her chest fur and looked back at Stormcloud.

[Lexie]

Silentstep sighed. "Okay." She meowed. She jumped down from the roof and stood infront of the elder. "Only if you don't take my bedding." She was joking. Silentstep's silver fur was rough as she rubbed it against her den mate.

[Mikki]

Silverheart looked at Silentstep. "I won't take your bedding if those darn apprentices come. Now." she meowed. She went back into the den, settled in her nest and closed her eyes. After a moment, they opened again and she looked around the den.

[Lexie]

Silentstep let out a growl. "Where are they anyway?" She grunted. "Training." Stormcloud meowed. Silentstep stretched out. She sighed and then looked at Silverheart. "Tipical." She whispered. Silentstep tried to scoot more into her nest. She then sheeked in pain. Her hip was hurting her. It had a raging pain.

Silverheart looked at Silentstep. "Are you okay? Should I fetch Quietshadow?" she asked, turning to Stormcloud. "All the apprentices can't be training!" She looked back to Silentstep, seeing the raging pain in her denmate's eyes.

[Lexie]

Stormcloud nodded. "I think Quietshadow is out of camp looking for herbs," he meowed, "I believe in the herbs field?"
"You're kidding!" Silentstep hissed. Her eyes were bright blue, filled with rage.
Stormcloud noticed Silentstep was deerly in pain. Darn, I don't even know where the herb field is!

[Mikki]

Silverheart was determined to help her denmate. "I'll go get Quietshadow for you, Silentstep. Stormcloud, will you come with me?" She shuffled her paws and looked up at Stormcloud. "I've pretty much forgotten were the herb field is!" She looked at Stormcloud hopefully, pleading him to help her.

[Lexie]

Stormcloud got to his feet slowly. "I'll go with you. But I'm pretty sure that he's in his den." He muttered. The black and white tom looked at the elder with a hopeful look. "At least you have still a little energy in you." He purred of amusement.
Silentstep rolled her eyes. "Of course she has energy! She just can't go running around on patrols and go hunting!" She then looked at her denmate. "Toms!"
