Whitestar bounded through the grass on a trail leading from camp to the sandy hollow. He glanced over to Skypaw. Being a smaller cat, he expected them to be able to keep the same pace rather well. The apprentice was probably within a mouse-length of his height. However, size was no issue for the FrostClan leader as he possessed a nearly endless reserve of energy. Once more he turned his gaze to Skypaw. "Coming?" He energetically leapt into the air for no particular reason except perhaps for the fun of it. "It's a very niiiice day," he meowed, trilling the iiii as he landed somewhat gracefully after his air above the ground. Whitestar shook his pelt off even though it was relatively clean.

Skypaw slid down the small hill and into the sandy hollow. "Already came," she teased. Skypaw's blue eyes glistened in the daylight. She sniffed the air. "I smell the happiness around us, the sand, and a stale sent of prey." she told him. She jumped up and down, sending sand everywhere.

Whitestar sniffed the air. "What does happiness smell like?" he asked, flicking his tail. "Careful not to get any sand up your nose. That happened to me when I was an apprentice. Rainlight had to give me some disgusting herb to make me sneeze it out." He winced at the thought and ran up to meet Skypaw.

Skypaw stopped jumping. "Well it smells like you," she told him. She smiled and purred. "Hey, I have a question," she told him, "have you ever lost a life?" Without an answer. "Well! I'm going to take away a couple when I fight you," she teased. She pounced playfully onto his back. She carefully bit her teeth into his neck.

Whitestar instinctively threw himself backward to get Skypaw under him. "If you can stay on top of your oppnent in battle then you'll have a better chance of winning." There was little to no chance of him crushing the apprentice because they were roughly the same size. He then rolled over, off to the side, and turned to face Skypaw in a fighting stance. His limbs were bent and slightly out from under him and his tail was relaxed, but he would be ready to use it for balance if needed.

Skypaw out of no where jumped ontop of the sandy hollow. She then was able to get a great target of her leader's shoulders. She pounced and pretended to shread apart his flank. "Take that!!!!" she spat.

Once again, Whitestar threw himself down on his back. "In battle, don't let yourself get distracted by anything your opponent does. Just try to get them off." He rolled to the right and thrashed himself a bit. It would be difficult to keep a hold on that.

Skypaw nodded and charged at her leader. She pounced and nocked him off his feet. She jumped back and pinned him down. "See, Flaxeyes has taught me some things after all," she hissed playfully.

Whitestar flailed around for a moment; Skypaw had gotten quite the grip on him. "Yeah, definitely." He then flicked his front legs up in her direction and did the same things with his hind ones before snapping the paws quickly in a wild kick.

Skypaw jumped and then went to trip the tom. It didn't quite work so she then pounced, easily took a grip onto his tail. She held onto his tail and pounced onto his back. She smiled. I can't believe I've gotton this good!! the she-cat thought.

Whitestar threw all of his weight on to his front paws and kicked up with his hind, like a rodeo bucking horse. It was a rather unconventional technique and could be dangerous if the cat on one's back leaned forward at the wrong moment, but it was usually effective. Plus, a good mentor would show their apprentice as many fighting moves as possible to find out what worked for them--even if they were only training temporarily.
