The wind rustled through the trees, creating tall, dark visions against the twilight sky. Ant padded across the yard and leapt quickly onto the yard, unpeturbed by the restless air. It was almost a full moon, and she had finally decided to go into the forest, at least a little way. She sat on top of the fence for a moment, then, with a glance back at her home, she jumped down. It was a short trot to the edge of the forest, but it seemed to take hours. Finally, she was in, surrounded by the trees she had watched so longingly for many seasons. All the smells and sounds were new, and she couldnt pick what to investigate first. A short way into the forest, she found the stale scent of other cats, the wild cats she had heard about.

A small voice ruptered the peace in the forest. "Where are you going?" it asked. The voice belonged to a grey and white fluffy tabby. Her voice was filled with curiousity and wariness. Large blue eyes twinkled with concern for the kittypet. "If you go into the words today you'll be in for a big surprise," she quoted. Her name was Dream. Her past was a mysterious as her poems and riddles. Some said she was a clan cat who talked to cats who could not be seen. Some said she was a rogue who had been hit by a monster too many times. But most, most said she was just a little demented house cat.

Ant span to the voice, startled. "Oh, hi there. You scared me." She watched the tabby warily. Then she got excited. "Are you wild cat? Do you have friends? Where are your friends? Whats your name? How many of there are you? Is it fun being wild?" She paddled her paws excitedly, asking questions before the tabby had time to answer the last.

Dream answered each of the she-cat questions carefully but still smiling. "Yes, but not anymore. My brother, but I'm not sure anymore. I don't know. Dream. Hundreds if not thousands. Yes, but in the past tense due to your first question." She nodded to the she-cat with her eyes closed. It had been so long since another cat had talked her in real life. She was sick of only talking to cats in her dreams. She opened her eyes again. "My turn next," she meowed. She would do whatever it took to keep this kittypet out of the forest. She wasn't interested in bringing back the sweet cats mutilated corpse and leaving it on her two-legs doorstep.

Ant purred happily, glad that Dream had actually answered her questions. "Your turn? Okay, lead away."

Dream rallied off her questions quickly and accurately. "What is your name? You're a kittypet. Not a question. Where do you live? Why are you in the forest? Why do you want to find the wild cats? Why do you like them? Have you any idea what they could do to you? Are you trying to get yourself killed? If you want I can push you in front of a monster? Less damage and possibly less pain."

Ant blinked, taken aback, but answered the questions one by one. "I'm Ant, short of Antoinette. Just over the fence outside the forest. Because I want to be. I heard rumours about them, and wanted to meet them. I dont know if i like them. No, not a clue. Definitly not. No thanks. Are they really that dangerous?"

Dream shrugged. "The clan cats will defend their territory. The rogues may not care. Some will. They'll have your pelt off your back Ant," she meowed cheerfully but sternly. If that was possible. "My dad was a rogue. He got hit by a monster. My mum was a kittypet. I don't know what happened to her. I ran away from my brother. His name was Spider." She had finally said her brother's name after three seasons. She felt a wash of relief flood over her as she relised she was no longer angry at the lithe tom. A image flashed past her minds eye and she cocked her head in curiousity. "Interesting," she purred. She looked up to face Ant. "You may meet a wild cat today," she announced.

Ant blinked, then paddled her paws nervously. "How do you know that? Will i really? Will we get along?"

"I can see things," Dream explained," I get flickers of my brother's location. This one is more defined. Sharper. Focused." She smiled and started walking faster. "He'll be happy to see me. He likes to make new friends. You might get along. His name is Spider," she meowed as she walked. She was rattling off random facts now. " He looks alot like our mother. Her name was Raven. I look like our father. His name was Thorn. they're both dead." She smiled at Ant, attempting to show that her parents deaths did not bother her. It seemed more like she was pleased about it.

"Thats cool!" Ant stared at this odd cat in wonder. She'd never met another cat like this one. "Your family sounds so interesting. Mine, i cant even remember. I really want to meet your brother. What does he look like?"

"Really?" meowed Dream, slightly astonished," I suspose as a kittypet you wouldn't. Nevermind. Sometimes family can be such a burden though. Spider is a black tom. Long legs. Very long legs. A long tail to match. He has a light build and is quite skinny. Well, he was last time I saw him. He has amber eyes and white tipped whiskers. Oh! And he has powerful hind legs. He used to leap around and jump out from things. Scared me." She shouldered through the undergrowth, clearing the path for Ant. She paused and sniffed the air. "I think he's nearby," she commented.

"That's because your nose is untrained," Dream explained. She pinted out to her a small black figure dozing under a tussock. She crept over to him and prodded him with a paw. "Remember me?" she asked. His eyes opened in a flash and he was on his feet. A wave of emotions crossed his face and he was all over Dream. He covered her licks and buried his nose into her pelt. "I thought you were gone forever!" he cried," I looked everywhere! I asked everyone I met but no one had seen you!" "You looked for me?" she asked surprised," I thought you hated me and that's why you never found me." Spider took a step backed shocked. "Never! I felt so guilty about what I said. I wish I could take it back. Do you forgive me?" he asked. Dream smiled. "Of course. I'm sorry too. I bought you a friend." "Oh!" Spider exclaimed finally spotting Ant," Hello there!"

Suddenly, Ant was shy at the appearance of this new cat. It didnt last long. "Hello to you too," she purred, rushing over to greet him. "I'm Ant. Dream has told me so much about you!"

Spider stood stunned. This had to be the most confident kittypet he had ever met. He met Dream's gaze and she shrugged. "Well Ant, it's nice to meet you. Are you one of my sister's kittypet, er I mean housecat friends?"
