The babble of rushing water filled the forest as they drew closer to the stream. Like silk, it cascaded over the moss covered rocks and rushed down, carving its way through the trees. The surrounding area was rich with moss from the frequent rains. It spread across the ground and up the trunks of the thick trees. The moist soil gave the air a rich scent and a bright white cat opened his mouth to draw it in. Long Cloud smiled and his whiskers quivered as he identified its many elements. He flicked his ginger ears as he listened to the rushing the water and the other sounds of the forest. Birds chirped from the treetops and mice scurried over fallen leaves. "Do you like it?" he asked, his voice hardly more than a whisper.

" It's beautiful" Misty Dream almost gasped as she sat down by the stream bank. She watched small pebbles bouncing off and around each other as the current of the water stirred them up. She stared at her reflection on the surface, watching as on part of her floated away and an identical peice took it's place and ran away too. She felt like purring until she made the ground vibrate, but instead she just started purring like a normal cat.

Long Cloud smiled and watched his own face shimmering on the surface of the water. He tilted his head this way and that, examining his own features. "It's so strange looking at yourself," he meowed. "Is this how you see me?" He turned to see that Misty Dream was doing the same thing too and he laughed loudly. Well, it was loud for him but to any normal cat it sounded like a soft chuckle. Everything about the Guide was whisper-quiet.

Misty Dream's expresion, as she turned to look at Long Cloud, was that of a dramatic change from surpise and to deep embarrasment " Uh....." she stared at the ground and spoke " Yes, that is how I see you.." The black she-cat pawed at some round smoothed pebbles absently But that's only half of what I see she thought. She dipped her paw breifly into the water, shattering her reflection like breaking ice and shook her paw dry when she lifted it out.
((I am SOOO mushy XD)).

Long Cloud tilted his head, puzzled at this reaction. His own ears blushed red and his nose was visibly pinker. Sometimes he said such mousebrained things without even realising. He turned his attention back to his reflection and, like Misty Dream, dipped a paw into the freezing water. He watched as the water rippled around it, distorting his reflection. "Sometimes I wish I had grey or brown fur. It would allow me better camouflage," he murmured. "If you could change, would you though?"

Misty Dream put on her cool. Not wanting to annoy herself anymore. She thought for a bit, wondering if a light grey or brown pelt would suit her best. " I don't think I would change, although this black is very noticable in the snow, but if I did change, i'd want to have a light brown coat so I could blend into the snow beside a tree and make myself look like a still twig. The color would also be good for blending into dry sand in the warmer seasons" She immediatly chided herself harshly in her head Make myself look like a twig? Good one, maybe I should say that hedgehogs would start flying by the end of this new-leaf season. And as for blending into sand? That's almost worse! The rest of the guild should start calling me Sandy Claws by next sun-high tommorow. I am so mouse-brained. .

The Guide tilted his head and genuinely surprised. Long CLoud understood what the she-cat had said, even if it had been a little confusing, but that wasn't what had surprised. "You would change?" he meowed, astonished. "But you wouldn't be you anymore. You would look so different and maybe even act different!" He looked down into the water, at his reflection and Misty Dream's, focusing on the image rather than colourful stones and algae underneath. He studied the shape of her face and the colours of her pelt, where it changed from black to ginger. "I really quite like how you are now," he murmured. "I can't imagine you grey or brown. It wouldn't be the same."

Misty Dream became a little worried " Have I upset you? I'm sorry, I say such mouse-brained things sometimes" she said apologetically. A crow flew by, cawing out a not-so-nice bird song and a lone brown mouse darted through the undergrowth nearby. She heard the beautiful white cat's comment while he looked their reflections and Misty Dream smiled warmly " And I wouldn't change for anything, anything except....I would change at least a part of me...for you... so just nevermind what I said about being brown and all." The she-cat shuffled her paws in embarassment and, her tail quivered as she waited for a reaction.
(( Too fast?))

Long Cloud looked up from the water and returned her warm smile and shook his head from side to side, ears flicked back. "It wasn't mouse-brained. It was your own thoughts and they are true to you," he meowed. He fell silent as the crow flew over and he looked up through the tree tops to watch it pass. He was so focused on the bird and what it could mean (he seemed to be searching for meaning in everything these days) that he nearly missed what Misty Dream said next. The tom's eyes widened in alarm and confusion. Long Cloud looked down from the sky, staring straight at Misty Dream. Her behaviour showed that she was embarrassed and anxious. His stomach flipped and he was overwhelmed with guilt for having caused the awkward reaction in her. "O-oh...for me?" he echoed, puzzled. "This isn't....well, it isn't because I'm the, oh!" He was completely lost for words which was strange. He usually was in excess of them, he spent so much time in silence afterall. He lowered his head and focused on her paws, embarrassed by his incoherent rambling. "The Guide. That's what I was trying to say," he murmured.
{No. It's fine.}

" I'm okay.. are you okay?" she asked, finaly speaking for the first time since she half-confessed to Long Cloud, her feelings. She was still wincing from the pain in her paw. Mistydream did not know much about herbs, she knew about cobweb, that was essential though, for wounds, not squashed paws.

"Are you okay?" Long Cloud asked, his voice loud in astonishment. He crouched down on the bank, looking at her paw. "In both the emotional and physical senses. I've hurt your feelings and now you've hurt your paw." He turned his eyes up at her briefly, gauging her reaction, before nudging it with his pink nose to see exactly how sore it was. "We should go back," he murmured," Rain Storm could give you something to help." "I'm so sorry!"

Misty Dream became confused by Long Tail's words " You haven't hurt my feelings at all. I think I can walk still. I don't know" She winced as the white cat nudged her paw. She slowly started to get up, carefull not to put any pressure on her injured paw " There is no need to be sorry. You haven't done anything worth apologizing for. It's okay" She said as she tried to skip walk a bit.

Long Cloud grimaced and padded after the she-cat. "I should of warned you about the rocks," he meowed. The tom was fretting, just as he always did whenever something bad happened to a member of the Guild. He honestly felt it was his duty to protect the cats from harm. "Let me help you," he told her. Long Cloud moved closer to Misty Dream, his pelt brushing against hers. "Lean against me."

"Its okay. No cat is perfect" Misty Dream meawed. She leaned against Long Cloud, releiving the pain in her paw a bit If this injury takes longer than three days, I'll become as bored as a kit being kept in a tiny den for moons. She thought . Her paw had taken up all the space in her mind.
