Flaxeyes followed the stream that curved through all four clan territories. Occasionally she was forced to hide and cross the stream in order to escape patrols. It was dangerous, but she didn't know how long she could stand without talking to her sister. Ahead she spotted the willow tree that marked the border between RainClan and AquaClan. While they were in exile this had been Honeyfrost's favourite place. She had no doubt that it still was. Bursting with suspense she ran the last few metres to the tree and stood at the base, looking up. "Honeyfrost!" she hissed quietily. Any louder and she might alert a patrol. The graceful cream she-cat rose her head from her paws and looked down to see who was calling her. She recognised her sisters scent and immediately her dull eyes brightened. "Flaxeyes!" she cried happily," Get up here won't you?"
Flaxeyes smiled. At least she wasn't asking too many questions. In several quick leaps the large tabby tortoiseshell scaled the tree and sat on the same branch. The large hanging tendrils hid the two cats from view and she knew that they would be safe. Carefully, as not to fall off, the touched each others nose in a gesture of pure love. "So what brings you sister?" Honeyfrost meowed softly.
"I think I'm in love...," Flaxeyes meowed glumly. Her sisters ears pricked up and she immediately became alert. One thing Honeyfrost loved more then fighting and torture was the idea of love. Honeyfrost loved romance. "That's wonderful!" she cried. Her smile faltered at Flaxeyes attitude. "Why do you say it like it's a bad thing?" she asked frowning.
"I'm in love with Blackpaw. The medicine cat apprentice," Flaxeyes whispered. The words were barely audible and her sister had to strain to hear her.
"Blackpaw?" Honeyfrost whispered in disbelief and happiness. Blackpaw was a lovely young cat but she had to agree with Flaxeyes. Medicine cats were not allowed to have kits.
"What do I do?" Flaxeyes moaned," I love him but I don't want to anger StarClan!"
Honeyfrost inched forward and licked her sisters ears. "I sure StarClan understands," she purred," StarClan will let Blackpaw know what to do." She drew back. "He does love you?" she demanded.
"I-I think so," Flaxeyes stammered.
"Good," Honeyfrost meowed sternly," You have nothing to worry about then. StarClan holds our destinies in their paws. They will guide us."
"I hope so," Flaxeyes whispered.
