It had been a long time since Applesong had seen all her friends from RainClan. She wondered what they had thought about her as she trekked on through the dried-up Twoleg garden. Applesong looked up at the nest towering above her.
I remember this place! she thought excitedly. It's where I met that Cinderflame from FrostClan. I wonder how he is nowadays. Well, I'll just have to find out. She squeezed through the small opening in the Twoleg nest and stepped inside the nest. The smell of fresh rat and raccoons drifted through her nose, and she stepped back in disgust.
"Hello?" Applesong called. "Is there anyone there?"

Owlfoot perked up, lifting his head from the mouse he had just caught. A voice? His ears twitched as he turned, stalking around the large nest, keeping as quiet as they could. Whoever they were, they were tresspassing. As he neared, he hesitated. Wait. That voice had sounded familiar...Finally, he made his way around, blinking his one eye at the figure barely visible through the overgrown bushes. He shot up immediately, a large smile on his face. That voice had been familiar! It was Applesong! She was home!
"Applesong!" he called, taking a full head on sprint toward her, a giant grin on his scarred face.

"Boy, am I glad to see you again, Owlfoot!" Applesong exclaimed. She ran up to her friend, accidentally bumping her nose into his. "Ouch. So, what's been happening in RainClan? Are Woodpaw, Tussockpaw, and Maplepaw alright? What about...Cinderflame?" She stepped back cautiously.
I knew I shouldn't have mentioned Cinderflame! Now Owlfoot's going to start asking questions, Applesong thought to herself, batting the grass with her paw.

Owlfoot purred loudly, closing his one good eye happily. "Everyone's doing fine, even Cinderflame!" he said, too overjoyed to even question why she was even asking about hin. She was home! That's all that mattered! "Come on!" he said, nudging her shoudler. "We need to get you back to camp!"

"I met your new medicine cat, Swiftwind. How are Orchidtail's kits doing? And who exactly is Swiftwind, anyway?" asked Applesong, headed in the direction of the camp. She pushed back some tall, thin grass blades and looked around her. The fresh scent of rainwater and prey drifted through her nose. It was the smell of RainClan. The smell of her home.

Owlfoot blinked, smiling widely. "She's a mix blood," he said, almost as if she should know that already. "Her father was a warrior in RainClan and her mother was a queen in FrostClan. I don't know all the details, but apparently her mother died somehow and she was adopted into RainClan when she was little. Remember?" He looked about, wondering where his hunting party had gone. He had forgotten about it up till now.

"Oh this is ridiculous," a voice complained loudly. Honeyfrost had just gotten a closer look at the squirrel she had caught and realised it would barely make a meal. It appeared the weather was making it had for the prey to eat as well. The light golden/ginger she-cat had been hunting around the twoleg nest while the rest of the patrol spread out. When nobody replied to her comment she gave a start and began looking around widely. She had been left behind. With a huff, Honeyfrost picked up her squirrel and padded out onto the main trail. Owlfoot's scent lingered along with another scent, one she hadn't smelt in moons. Her light blue eyes widened in disbelief and she dropped the piece of fresh-kill to the ground. "Applesong?!" she yowled out.

Owlfoot jerked, looking behind him. "Over here, Honeyfrost!" he called, voice excited. "She's come home! Ahe's finally come home!" He turned to smile to Applsong, eyes sparkling happily. It's just like when Lichenpelt returned, when his mother had finally come home to him.

Honeyfrost blinked startled, a pang of jealously rushing through her. She had never really liked Applesong and didn't like her anymore now that Owlfoot seemed so happy. It was nice she had come back but it hadn't been that long compared to Lichenpelt's disappearance and well, it was just Applesong right? Nobody special? Despite her tough outer exterior, Honeyfrost had several self-confidence issues which had worsened since the rogue attack and the meeting with her father. Now she was reassuring herself that Owlfoot loved her and not the ginger she-cat beside him. She hated herself for not trusting him. Honeyfrost forced a smile, picked up the squirrel by its tail and ran up to the two cats. Due to the fact Owlfoot was partially blind on one side she had to walk along beside Applesong. "Welcome back," she meowed through the prey. Hopefully it sounded happier enough.

Owlfoot smiled happily, his eye twinkling as he turned to look to Honeyfrost, eye extremely happy. Two cats had returned from moons of being missing. First, his mother, and now Applesong, his friend. His life seemed to be getting better from the bleak depression that it was after he found Robinclaw. He was even becoming more comfortable near that old clearing.

Applesong rubbed against Honeyfrost. "I'm so glad to see you as well. Come on, let's get back to camp, and then we can see how everyone else is doing. Boy, will they be surprised to see me!" She darted off, leaving her two friends behind her.
"Come on, you guys! Catch up!"

Honeyfrost nodded shyly and briefly touched her nose against Applesong's shoulder. The gesture had surprised her because it was only Owlfoot and her siblings that ever showed her affection. Everyone else avoided her like she had greencough. When the she-cat darted off she turned her head to look at the deputy who was smiling happily. "I wonder where's she been?" she meowed, shrugging her shoulders.

Owlfoot shrugged himself, turning to watch Applesong run off. "We should catch up," he said, gigglinbg as their friend disappeared in the bushes and weeds. He began to pick up pace, looking back at Honeyfrost with a large grin, waiting for her to pick up speed.

Honeyfrost sighed and with a frown she ran after Owlfoot and Applesong. She couldn't see what the big deal was about the she-cat's return. She was just another mouth to feed in the middle of leaf bare. But she susposed that Applesong meant alot to the other warriors because they had grown up with her and trained with her. Honeyfrost missed her siblings and hated that the three of them were cosied up in BeachClan with their kits. She hadn't even met Redwind's kits and all she had heard nothing about Flaxeyes'. "I'm coming," she murmured half-heartedly.

Owlfoot smiled, glad that she was at leats following, though it gnawed at him that she wasn't as enthusiastic at their friend's return. He shrugged, looking back ahead as he did so. He smiled warnly to Honeyfrost as she caught up with him, increasing his pace to match hers. His smile became a grin as teh wind rushed past him, giving him a sense of near weightlessness.
