Hawkstar padded out of his den, blinking sleep from his eyes and adjusting to the bright sunlight. He yawned, then leapt onto Highrock, looking down on his clan with pride to announce something as great as this. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey join here beneath Highrock for a Clan meeting!" he yowled, his strong voice carrying over the camp to grab everyones attention.

Owlfoot lifted his head from the fresh kill he had just finished, blinking up at Highrock. He stood and, digging a small hole for the remains of the vole and burrying it, turned, limping toward the gathering crowd of cats. His leg was still sore from the battle and a few nerves had been cut on his flank. He may have that limp for the rest of his life.

Woodkit's paws prickled with anticipation as Hawkstar's voice rang clearly through the camp. This is it! I'm finally going to become an apprentice! He'd been looking forward to this for moons, and now that his big day was finally here, he found it difficult to resist jumping around in excitement. No! Apprentices aren't kits! Must... act... dignified... This was the most important thing that had ever happened to him, and he was not going to make any mistakes.

Desertflower beamed with pride, while Tussockpaw and Maplepaw eyed up their new denmate. "Tussockpaw?" Maplepaw asked. "I think he'll be okay when he realizes that being apprentice isn't running around and hunting and doing warrior stuff," he replied, answering the question his sister had not asked. It was easy to know what she wanted. It was always his opinion. "I wish I could go hunting," Maplepaw mumbled, glancing down at her leg.
Honeyfrost had returned from a hunting patrol with Orchidtail and dropped her mouse in the fresh-kill pile. "What's going on?" she asked. Orchidtail placed a blackbird onto the pile and looked up at Hawkstar. "Oh! It must be Woodkit's apprentice ceremony." Honeyfrost nodded and padded quickly over to Owlfoot. "I've never seen an apprentice ceremony in a Clan," she exclaimed," I wonder if it's the same. It must be."

Hawkstar smiled as he saw Woodkit, seeing the excitement in his eyes. "Woodkit, would you join me up here please?" he called, glancing towards Orchidtail quickly. It was his first ceremony since being leader and he hoped he got it right. He closed his eyes a moment, then sighed, looking back to the about-to-be apprentice before turning back to the clan. "I call upon my warrior ancestors to look down upon this kit. He would like to become a warrior of Rainclan, but must first become an apprentice. Woodkit, from this day forth, until you have earned your warrior name, you will be known as Woodpaw. Wolfheart will mentor you." he stated, leaning down and touching noses to the kit.
Wolfheart looked up to his leader, smiling proudly to be given the privilege of mentoring this apprentice. He was also the first one to start the chant. "Woodpaw! Woodpaw! Woodpaw! Woodpaw!"

Woodpaw tried his best not to lose his composure, but the chanting of his name became all too much for him. "Woodpaw! I'm Woodpaw!" He squealed. He was bursting with excitement, overjoyed at being an apprentice at last. "Wolfheart, can we go train now?" He asked enthusiastically. "I wanna learn to fight and hunt and smell and climb and -" He paused, having run out if thoughts.

Owlfoot chanted with them, a large, happy smile on his face. It was wonderful. RainClan had a brand new, eager to learn apprentice. He turned to Honeyfrost and grinned. He highly doubted he needed to say anything about the ceremony now.

Hawkstar leapt down from Highrock and landed beside the apprentice and mentor. "Actually, I need to say something about that." he said, looking to Wolfheart who nodded. "Wolfheart will be doing a mission for me and will be a away for a while. For now, Owlfoot shall be your substitute mentor until he returns. Alright Owlfoot?" he asked, looking to his deputy.
((For when I'm away. xD))

Owlfoot suddenly jerked his head, turning to blink at Hawkstar. He nodded. "Of course Hawkstar. Is that alright with you Woodpaw?" Owlfoot mewed, turning to smile at the apprentice.

Woodpaw nodded. "Okay! Owlfoot will be an awesome mentor!" I'm going to be trained by the deputy! But a pang of curiosity shot through him; he couldn't help wonder about Wolfheart. "Where's Wolfheart going? He asked, his eyes wide. Maybe I could come too! He thought, almost having forgotten for a second that he wasn't actually a warrior yet.

Tussockpaw frowned. "I want to be trained by the deputy." "You have your own mentor," Maplepaw replied. ((Who is Tussockpaw's mentor?)) "From the apprentice who is being trained by Hawkstar." "And Blizzardstar," Maplepaw added smiling.
"Woodpaw!" Honeyfrost cheered. She turned to Owlfoot smiling. "This is like the one I had but it's much bigger."
Orchidtail and Desertflower cheered for Woodpaw loudly. Desertflower rushed forward to congratulate the new apprentice, dragging her kits behind. "You have to show Woodpaw the den," she told them. Tussockpaw and Maplepaw groaned but followed obediently.

Hawkstar glanced at Wolfheart, their eyes locking for a moment before Wolfheart turned to Woodpaw, smiling. "Sorry, I can't exactly say. But I will come back soon so I can train you. Maybe by the time I can get back you can beat me!" he teased, batting the apprentices ears playfully. Hawkstar nodded. "When he gets back, I will let you know, but it has to remain secret for now, alright?" he said, smiling and shrugging.

Owlfoot grinned, looking around as Desertflower came rushing toward the apprentice. He dipped his head in greeting and turned to look at the groaning apprentices. At their reaction he chuckled, convinced it wasn't that bad of a job.

"Alright." Woodpaw tried to smile, but his ears drooped a little; he couldn't help being a bit disappointed. He had really, really wanted to know where Wolfheart was going. If the mission is secret, I guess there's no chance of me going... Inside, he could also feel jealousy creeping up again. Why am I so upset? "Good luck on your mission," he meowed, "wherever you're going!" "I'm not that bad, am I?" He added to the other apprentices in reaction to their groaning. "Come on, let's go to the apprentice den!"

"We're so used to have the den all to ourselves," Maplepaw meowed. "And we can't help be upset about giving away some of special space," Tussockpaw added. "Yeah...plus I have to spend lots of time lying down because of my leg," Maplepaw sighed. Until her leg healed completely she wouldn't be able to go training. She hated being stuck in camp. Tussockpaw lightened the mood by nudging Woodpaw with his shoulder. "So, where do you want to sleep? Beside me or Maplepaw?" The ginger she-cat snorted. "Makes no difference. He's not going to get any sleep with your snoring!" "Hey!" her brother cried. Maplepaw poked out her tongue and limped/bounded away.
Honeyfrost leaned over and meowed quietly to Owlfoot. "Do you want to come with me to the Rogue's Nest?"

Owlfoot jerked slightly and looked to Honeyfrost with wide eyes. "Uh...sure..." he whispered, glancing back to apprentices to make sure they hadn't heard.

Woodpaw nodded to the other apprentices. "Yeah," he meowed, "I guess I understand." He hadn't like the way they had talked about the den as if it belonged to only them, but he knew they had had the den to themselves for a while. "I don't think I would've minded much, though," he added. "I'd really like to have as much company as possible - even if they'd have to listen to me snore!" He giggled. He really did like being around other cats. Honeyfrost and Owlfoot look as if they're talking to each other. He turned to the warriors, smiling. "Hey, wait a minute! Are you two planning to go hunting or something?" He meowed excitedly. "Can I come with you?"

"Come on!" Tussockpaw meowed. The light ginger apprentice had stopped chasing his sister and he waited not far from the den entrance. "If you come quickly you can chose your den and then maybe we could hunting!"
"We have to take Badger's body back remember and I wanted to know how mother was...," Honeyfrost whispered. She trailed off when she remember that it was Owlfoot who had been fighting Suntail. Honeyfrost's head jerked up as Woodpaw approached. "No. Owlfoot and I were just discussing patrols," she lied. She smiled warmly at the apprentice. "I thought maybe you would like to go on your first patrol but since your not interested..." She turned her head away.

Owlfoot smiled at Woodpaw apologetically. "Sorry, but Honeyfrost and I have something to do. I'll take you on your first hunting patrol a bit later, k?" he mewed, swishing his tail. "Until then, why don't you get comfortable in your new den?"

Woodpaw nodded. "Okay," he meowed to his current mentor. "Coming!" He called to Tussockpaw, and bounded after him. Outside the den, he turned to the other apprentice. "Maybe you could teach me to hunt," he giggled. "Then I'll have something to show Owlfoot when he gets back!" Back from where? He wondered for a second, but the thought was quickly forgotten as he looked into his new den. "Oh, wow - this is so cool!" He stumbled through the entrance, tripping over his feet as he entered the tree. Just in time, he frantically reached out a paw to stabilize himself. "Oops. Heh." He sat down and glanced around. "So, erm, where do you two sleep?"

"I sleep in the corner here," Maplepaw meowed, gesturing to the a moss nest in the right corner. "And I sleep next to her," Tussockpaw meowed. "You can choose wherever you want," she giggled, as Woodpaw fell over. "Then we can go hunting with Orchidtail if you can stand up." Tussockpaw frowned as he realised that it had been just him and Maplepaw for over a moon now. It seemed so long ago that Sunpaw had slept between them. I wonder if Maplepaw is thinking the same thing...
Honeyfrost sighed with releif as Woodpaw wandered away. "I thought we would end up bringing him," she meowed. She turned to Owlfoot with bright eyes. "So? Do you want to go? They wouldn't suspect you of you know...killing him. Your scent would be on him because you had to help me drag him. Badger his huge compared to me!"

Owlfoot smiled sadly, shaking his head. "I've been thinking about it; it'd be better for me to take responsibility for his death," he mewed quietly, turning to look toward the entrance to camp. "I don't need to run away. It's my fault he's gone. And besides," he shrugged, "it would depend on if his body is still there and intact."

"I can stand up perfectly fine, thank you," Woodpaw meowed, letting out a purr of amusement. "That was completely and totally on purpose." He looked around. So many places to sleep! This was going to be a tough decision... "Hey, how about I run around with my eyes closed? Then, I can sleep wherever I end up!" It didn't sound like the most foolproof idea, but, hey - it sounded fun. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and ran - straight into the wall at the back of the den. He tumbled backwards, ending up a little ways away from it. "Ow..." He muttered, shaking his head, then looked up cheerfully at the other apprentices. "How 'bout here?" He asked, blinking.

Tussockpaw and Maplepaw exchanged worried glances at Woodpaw's plan. However, when he actually did close his eyes and run the two of them couldn't help but laugh. "That's your nest then," Maplepaw meowed with a smile. "Let's go hunting now!" her brother cried racing out of the den.
"I thought you wanted me to take the blame," Honeyfrost meowed blinking," You said it would help you feel better. You know, deal with the guilt. Are you still coming...wether there's a body or not?"
occ:// Suggestion. Honeyfrost, Owlfoot, Orchidtail, Ravenclaw (Tussockpaw's mentor?), Tussockpaw and Woodpaw go out hunting/patrol. They meet Doveheart and Flaxeyes who report the badger. Owlfoot and Honeyfrost then go to the Rogue's Nest.

Owlfoot looked at her, his smile sad. "I did, but I have been thinking about it. It would probably be better for me if I told them the truth on who killed him," he mewed, blinking at her.

"Alright!" Woodpaw trotted after Tussockpaw, managing not to stumble this time. "Owlfoot! Owlfoot!" He called, seeing the warrior still talking with Honeyfrost, and rudely interrupting. "Have you done what you were gonna do yet? 'Cos we wanna go hunting - now!" He jumped up and down enthusiastically.

Owlfoot jumped, letting out a quiet meow of surprise. He turned and stared at Woodpaw, trying to catch his breath after the minny heart attack. He blinked, finally catching his nerve. "Listen, Woodpaw," he said sternly, "the hunting will have to wait. Honeyfrost and me have to go somewhere, but we'll go, just wait." He thought for a moment. "Think of this as part of your training. A good hunter is patient. If you can be patient for me, We'll go hunting when I get back. Promise," he mewed, voice authoritive.

"You should be nicer to the cat who is your deputy and current mentor. Don't push him around," Honeyfrost scolded.
"Woodpaw!" whined Tussockpaw," Come on! We're not going with them. Ravenclaw and Orchidtail can take us. They'll be much faster."

"Sorry!" Woodpaw meowed to Honeyfrost and Owlfoot, with a brief apologetic nod. "I didn't mean to be rude. I'll, um, go with Ravenclaw and Orchidtail instead, then!" He scrambled back to Tussockpaw. "So, where will they be right now?" He glanced around the camp, wishing he knew his way around better.
