"Flaxeyes? You don't look so well." Owlspot had looked up from his own kits to see his sister lying on her side, looking rather uncomfortable. Her large green eyes were filled with concern and pain. She groaned and laid her head down in the moss bedding. "The kits are coming," she meowed, softly. She glanced up at the black tom sitting beside her. He was the medicine cat of FrostClan and unbeknown to everyone except Rainlight and Skylight, the father of her kits. "Blackleaf," she whimpered.

Blackleaf got closer. "Don't worry I'm right here," he meowed quietly. "Can you go ask Quietshadow to help me, this is my first kitting, I have all the herbs." he asked Owlspot. He turned back to Flaxeyes. "Here, eat another one of these, we need you to have plenty of milk." He pushed borage next to Flaxeyes. He laid down and tucked his paws under his chest. Please don't let me screw something up. Blackleaf smiled. "I'm not going to let anything happen to you," he promised. He hoped his promise would not be broken. He then thought of the elder's stories of Silverstream. "This curse better not let anything happen," he muttered under his breath. Icestar poked her head into the nursery. She blinked to her son. She wanted to go up to him and confort both of them but then she would look like some kittypet trying to confort a twoleg.

Owlspot nodded and whispered,"Be right back." before slipping out of the den. He quickly padded across the clearing and ducked down into the medicine cat den. "Quietshadow!" he called," Are you there? Flaxeyes is kitting."
Meanwhile Flaxeyes had nodded meekly to the black tom and was chewing half-heartedly on the borage leaves. "Erk. They taste horrid," she complained. But before Blackleaf could retort she looked up and flashed him a smile. "Yes, I know. They're good for me. Don't worry, nothing will go wrong. Redwind, Shadowsoul and Emberlight are here too." She turned her head when she caught a familiar scent and looked up to see Icestar watching for the entrance. The BeachClan leader looked awkward, as if she couldn't decide whether to involve herself in the kitting or not. "Come in," Flaxeyes told her. "You do have a right to be here." She winked and gave the black she-cat a sly smile to let her know that she knew about their relation. Her kits would be Icestar's family, afterall.

"Yes, I'm here," Quietshadow meowed, trotting out of his den to the nursery. He didn't bother collecting any herbs; Blackleaf and Larchpaw were both in camp with him and he knew he would be able to get one of them to collect the herbs, if needed. The medicine cat slunk past Icestar and sat down in the den behind Blackleaf. "Borage. Well done. This is the first kitting you've attended, I presume?" He turned his gaze to Flaxeyes and watched her calmly for a moment. "From what I can see, she looks healthy. Do I have any reason to be wrong?"

Owlspot quickly trotted after Quietshadow but stopped at the entrance on the den. It would be crowded enough inside without him. He glanced at Icestar, slightly surprised that she was present. But then on, Blackleaf was her son and even though he was in a different Clan she should be allowed to see the kits. "Where's Stormcloud?" he asked casually," Do you think you should send him to FrostClan to tell them about the kits? After, of course. We have to have wait for the good news." He swallowed nervously and began licking his chest fur. There had been no complications in the birth of his kits but it wasn't the same for every queen. He knew that Emberlight had lost one kit and he didn't know if Flaxeyes could handle that. She had been looking after Mousekit for awhile now and he could see the longing she felt for her own kits. StarClan, please watch over her.
"Er, no?" Flaxeyes meowed, frowning. "I'm in a bit of pain but I suspose that is to be expected." She shifted her gaze to Blackleaf, hoping that as a medicine cat he could help her. This was the first arrival of kits FrostClan had had in many seasons. It was shame she couldn't be delivering them in the comfort of the familiar Nursery back home. It doesn't matter where they're born she told herself, as long as they are healthy. Another ripple of pain spread through her and she leaned back, onto her side in the moss which proved to be a much more comfortable position. "They're coming," she groaned again. The first kit was a reasonable size and thankfully, was not black in colour. Flaxeyes would have plenty of trouble if any of the kits remotely resembled Blackleaf. There wasn't any black cats in FrostClan, the closest being Dashfoot who was gray in colour. The kit's pelt was a shade lighter than it's mother's with darker tabby markings. Her pelt, for it was a female, was flicked with ginger and some white and he chest, stomach and parts of her paws were a light cream similar to that of Suntail's or Owlspot's colouring. Flaxeyes gently leaned around and began licking the kit with a rasping tongue. "Oh, look," she whispered, staring up into Blackleaf's eyes.

Blackleaf smiled. "She's beautiful," he purred. He looked into Flaxeyes' eyes and smiled. He new how happy she was and how happy he was. The only thing was that of the curse. Icestar carefully walked into the nursery and smiled. She wanted to lean on her kit, that was now bigger than her. The curse must travel some way through them. Her black pelt gingerly laid down on her neck. "Precious." Her smiled took most of her black face. Her blue eyes looked closey into the kits pelt. She new that Blackleaf was a 'rouge' kit when he had joined Frostclan, along with Skylight. "What about the curse?" Blackleaf whispered. "Don't say it now, something will happen. I said the same thing when Stormcloud then disappeared." she hissed softly.

"It is expected," Quietshadow meowed, nodding his head and observing mother and daughter. "Well done. Your kit is moving and breathing. She seems to be fine, but most litters usually have multiple kits." There was a slight warning note in his voice, although he tried to keep it calm and level. The last thing he wanted to do was to agitate Flaxeyes about any kits that could possibly arrive in the near future.

Flaxeyes smiled up at Icestar, somewhat glad for that the BeachClan leader had commented. Although, her face soured considerably at Blackleaf's question. Her mate and his family obsessed over some old story that they were cursed. Bad things had happened to them but probably because they were always thinking that things like that were going to happen so they did. The only 'curse' which concerned Flaxeyes was what StarClan was planning for her. Medicine cats were not meant to father or mother kits. The kit looked perfectly healthy as Quietshadow said and she nudged her closer to her stomach so she could suckle. "Look how big I am," she chuckled, meeting Quietshadow's gaze. "Of course there's going to be multiple kits. What fun."

Blackleaf let out a chuckle from what Flaxeyes' comment showed him. "The warriors wouldn't put up with them." He laughed slightly and leaned forward and licked Flaxeyes' cheek. "You'll never have to much to keep me busy." His voice was no more than a whisper. He noticed that Flaxeyes' belly was big. His eyes widened and then he laughed again. Icestar smiled and leaned forward and licked the ginger she-kit. Her ginger kit reminded her of Suntail, then letting her remember the option she offered the she-cat. You can come live in Beachclan if you want. A cold shiver went down the black she-cat's spine.

Flaxeyes gave Blackleaf a tired smile but nodded to let him know she had heard him. These kits would mean just as much to him as they did to her, even if he couldn't let it known they were his. Icestar was already bonding with the she-kit and her heart ached knowing that they would all have to leave back to their own Clan. She wasn't sure how Icestar would handle loosing her son and his kin. Flaxeyes knew she would miss Owlspot, Redwind, their kits and Coppertail. It was nice being all together as a family again. Her thoughts were interrupted by the arrival of the second kit and she gritted her teeth. This one was a rich ginger and black tabby tom. Like his sister he had several cream markings around his face and his tail was tipped as well. Flaxeyes' heart sunk at the colouration. Her pelt was similar to her father's but her son's was even closer. His pelt was rich ginger like Coppertail's with the black markings being similar to Burntstar's mottled tabby and ginger colouring. It was easy to pick out family features from the medium-haired coat found on her mother, sister and cousins to the slender, narrow frame of Suntail. Perhaps Blackleaf was right, maybe there was a curse.

Blackleaf smiled to his mate. "They're beautiful." His tone was no more than a whisper. He leaned down and licked the newest kit gentally. Icestar stood up. "Would you two like something to eat?" she asked gingerly. "Yes please." It was Blackleaf talking. "I'll share with Flaxeyes." He purred. Icestar smiled and walked out of the den. "Flaxeyes, no matter what happens, I'll be here." He meowed. He leaned down and licked her cheek. "But I might have to go back to the clan. But I will come back after the half moon." He meowed. He then flinched. "But I'm not leaving now." I used a lot of but's in my sentences. He smiled at his mate and then at his kits. "You can think of names." he purred.

"I feel too tired to eat," Flaxeyes murmured, resting her head in the moss. She smiled at Blackleaf, his promises amusing. "You are a medicine cat and if you have to leave there's nothing we can do," she meowed softly. She was trying to be as vague as possible with Quietshadow there as she didn't want other Clan cats knowing what Blackleaf and her had done. It was against the warrior code for a medicine cat to have kits so he would have to act as a warrior first and her mate second. "I'll be looked after here," she told him. Flaxeyes twisted her head to look at the kits. "The she-cat can be Rabbitkit for her warm brown fur and the ginger and black tom can be Foxkit," she announced. She groaned again as the third and final kit ws born. It was another she-cat, this time with a warm tan pelt and different colours in various areas. Her muzzle was darker than the newly named Rabbitkit's, almost caramel in colour. The same was for her paws while her rear paws were a soft cream. Flaxeyes sighed and pushed the kit towards her stomach and began licking her gently.

Blackleaf looked at Flaxeyes' kits. "They're wonderful, and I think Foxkit is a wonderful name!" His voice was loud and his tone was calming. "Icestar will help watch too, she knows some stretches without hurting yourself, when your belly starts to swell down." he purred. He new his mother was wise and helpful, he didn't know why cats called her mean and stubborn, he understood the stubborn part, but not the mean part. They say she was named Icestar because of her personality, but it was because of her eyes. She wasn't name until her eyes opened, so she said.

"I'm glad you like it," Flaxeyes meowed, smiling at Blackleaf. She turned to Icestar and dipped her head in respect. "Thank-you for letting me stay here. I'll be gone as soon as the kits can walk. Sorry for bothering you all." She looked back down at her kits and licked each one in turn. She paused at the third one, trying to come up with a name for her. "I don't have any ideas on what to name here," she meowed softly. "Any ideas?" she asked looking up at Blackleaf, playing the part of an innocent queen.

ooc; I honestly did but I forget stuff easily, I swear, I'll study for a test and get every question right that people will throw at me, then I get the test and have like this block in my head. =[
bic; Blackleaf leaned over. He studied the forth kit for a while. He smiled and looked at Flaxeyes. "I honestly have no idea." He softly meowed. Icestar walked back into the nursery, with a rabbit in her jaws. She laid infront of Blackleaf and Flaxeyes. "Thank you," Blackleaf whispered. Icestar licked his cheek. She looked at the two, now three kits. "Congrats!" She meowed. Icestar looked at Blackleaf, "what are their names?" "That one's Rabbitkit, Foxkit, and we haven't thought of a name for this one," Blackleaf meowed, pointing his nose at each one. Icestar smiled. "What about Lilykit?"

The scent of the rabbit was delicious but Flaxeyes felt too tired to eat. She just wanted to curl and sleep with her kits. "Thank-you Icestar," she meowed gratefully," I think I'll eat some later after a quick nap." She glanced up at Blackleaf as he introduced each kit but lingered on the third. "Lilykit? That's a beautiful name," Flaxeyes purred. "It's wonderful Icestar."

Icestar purred from the fact that her daughter in-law loved her idea for a name. She loved kits, and hoped that they become great warriors. "Thank you." She then turned to Blackleaf. "How's Skylight?" "Fine, she's a wonderful hunter, and has some unique battle moves." He blinked slowly. Most likely she had learned most of those moves from Stormcloud. He didn't like the fact that he was meant to be a medicine cat and couldn't really learn to fight. Icestar responded quickly,"I wonder how she makes them up." She kind of gritted her teeth while she made that responce. "Yes, we will never know," Blackleaf growled. "You two stay as long as you want, I know Blackleaf has to get back to Frostclan quickly though," she meowed. Blackleaf opened his mouth. "I'm leaving tomorrow at sunhigh, I'll probably find a patrol," he meowed.

Flaxeyes suddenly raised her head, her eyes wide with alarm. "You're leaving?" she meowed, clearly upset. She swallowed and shook her head, calming herself. "I know you're the medicine cat but I'll miss you. I guess, well, I didn't really think about when you'ld be leaving." She sighed and turned away to lick each of her kits gently.

Blackleaf leaned over. "I'm sorry, but I have too, Icestar will take care of you," he promised. He licked his mate's head. "I'm sorry." He new that Flaxeyes' needed him, but, he had to leave, his clan could be in trouble, and Rainlight, she might need help. He turned away, he was starting to hurt in his stomach. He let out a sigh. He wanted to stay, but he just couldn't at least for long.

"I know," Flaxeyes whispered sadly. She gave a tiny smile and looked up at him with big green eyes. "But I'll come back to FrostClan as soon as the kits can make the journey, after leaf-bare," she told him, nodding sincerly. She looked back at her kits, her stomach filling with concern. Raising kits in the middle of a harsh leaf-bare was not an ideal situation. If she starved, her kits would starve too. Both her and Redwind had the same problem and Flaxeyes wasn't too sure how eager the BeachClan warriors would be to part with their scarce prey. The Warrior Code stated a kit must be helped no matter what Clan, but did that include her?

Icestar padded up to Flaxeyes. "I promised to take care of you, and now if you need anything, I'll be here. Blackleaf told me to give you another one of these." She pushed another borage leave toward the queen. She wanted to be the biggest help toward the queen.
Redwind looked at Flaxeyes. "Congrats, and good luck, I've barely had mine for three sunrises and they are killing me." She laughed. She loved her kits, everyone of them. She loved Flaxeyes' kits just as much as her's. They were all so pretty. She looked up at Owlspot. She smiled and licked his cheek. "Say congrats and don't be rude." She joked. She always loved to mess with him.

"Thank-you," Flaxeyes meowed again, taking the leaves and chewing on them. The taste was bitter and she winced visably. "Yuck. You can tell it's good for you when it tastes bad!" She turned to Redwind and laughed at the queen's comment. "Thank-you. Seeing as how we're going to be together for awhile we can help each other out. I'm sure my darlings will love to play with your spotted beauties." Owlspot had since joined the she-cats and he now turned his head away, slightly embrassed. He licked Redwind's ear and buried his nose into her pelt. "Flaxeyes knows that I'm happy for her," he replied, winking at his sister. "Of course! He's just shy that's all," Flaxeyes teased. "Congratulations!" he meowed, rolling his eyes.

Redwind put her tail on top of Owlspot's head. "Be nice!" She hissed playfully. She let out a sigh then looked at her kits. "Yes, spotted they are." She purred. She liked all her kits being spotted, instead of her boring lightish orange and white coat. She turned to face Owlspot. Redwind's nose started to bury into his shoudler. Crack. It was the sound of a flee. "I'll save some time for you." She buried her nose back into his shoulder. He didn't have a lot because of the cold breezes but, he still had a few. Crack, crack, crack.

Owlspot frowned and began scratching at his fur with his hind paw. "Stupid fleas. I swear they just won't leave me alone." Flaxeyes laughed. "You're just so tasty to them. I would suggest to you to go swimming but it's far too cold." Owlspot groaned. Everybody knew that leaf-bare was hard but this year was even worse. There was simply nothing to eat and no way to keep warm. "Maybe they'll just freeze. It's so cold," he complainedm shivering.

Redwind growled. "No, the only reason why the flees leave you alone is because I'm here to take care of you." She then purred, "someone has to take care of you, you big furball." Crack, crack, crack. Redwind purred. "No worries, I'm here." Crack! Redwind backed away from his shoulder and started to roll her tounge against her teeth. "Big one." She coughed.

Owlspot wiggled away from his mate, whimpering playfully. "The leave me alone because they're scared of you." Flaxeyes snorted lightly in amusement and buried her muzzle between her paws. Her brother always knew how to make her laugh. Around his closest friends he was playful and happy but around anyone else he would be cold and emotionless. Redwind had changed some of that as she saw Owlspot smiling more often. "I know that look," Owlspot meowed to his sister, frowning,"You're thinking nice things about me. You can tell because you always stare at that person and smile sweetly. It's creepy." "You know me so well," Flaxeyes yawned. She prodded the rabbit Icestar had brought and began nibbling on it, somewhat hungry.

Redwind frowned. "You're easy to read, like how you can tell how stupid mice are." She didn't think of a very good comeback, so she said that. Redwind laid down and spread out, giving her kits more room to feed. The orange she-cat felt very uncomfortable. She was used to curling up and putting her tail around her muzzle. She wanted to sit up and stretch so badly. Redwind looked up and starting licking her kits.

Owlspot gasped and pretended to look hurt at his mate's comment. "A mouse? I, Owlspot, am much more intelligent than a mere mouse!" he boasted. "Yeah, you're more like fish," Flaxeyes meowed, looking up from the rabbit. Her voice was sincere but he knew she was teasing. He gave her a in your dreams look and stretched out behind Redwind, resting his head on her stomach so he could watch his kits- his kits, just thinking it thrilled him -and curled his tail around her hind legs. "I'm a fish Redwind," he playfully whispered into her ear.
