The Guild

This is the official Guild board! *happy dance*
There's still some discussion on the landscape of their territory but so far it is agreed that they live in the hills where the land is partially open but also filled with forest (pine and mixed). There will also be a stream that goes down from the open hills side and into the forest.
Any ideas or pictures you have will be excellent.

Some different traditions that have been confirmed;
- The guide and healer can have kits.
- The next guide is trained by guide rather than being a deputy.
- At a point where decisons are made, the guide will speak to the Guild and all comments and suggestions are put forth. The advisors and the guide mull over it before the guide makes the final decision.

Other ideas to be confirmed;

- Advisors hold their place until they die or are forced to retire. At that point a new advisor is chosen by the remaining two, the guide and if so, his learner.
- The guide may retire if he feels he can no longer serve the Guild well.
- Titles like guide, healer and advisor are given capital letters.
- Prey or another small gift is given at the birth of kits or when a learner becomes a full member.
- All members and bringers look out for each others kits. Many act as how we would expect perhaps how our aunt or uncle would.

Please post to tell me or another admin if you're planning on creating a character. We would really like to get his plot up and running.

Also, can somebody start roleplaying AquaClan in No Cat's Land? It probably won't happen since Ally always comes on online and poofs without posting anything.

Shining Grass. Son of Howling Wind, brother of Sparrow Song. He went missing as a learner. His mother and sister are both siameses while his father is a mixed gray tabby.

ALI
Possible relatives of Windy Night, a black and white she-cat, who is Long Cloud's mother. Also, his father Long Shadow who was a dark ginger tom. He was killed in a landslide with a tom called Swooping Bird. There was one survivor in that accident. The name Red Leaves is UFA as well. He/she told Long Cloud when he was a kit that green-leaf was coming.

Just curious, but will the Guild participate in any of the events that the Clans have? I was thinknig like the meetings at the Moonpool and such. Because for Ali, I was thinking that River Stone might fall in love with a Clan cat, and they have kits together.

Meanwhile, do they even know the Clans exist?

No they wouldn't. They don't share the same beliefs that the Clans have with StarClan. The Guild is located a good distance away from FrostClan and they have no idea that the Clans exist.

I was hoping that River Stone would have kits in the Guild fathered by a Guild cat but perhaps give a kit to FrostClan or something. There's so much potential here. A FrostClan cat could have kits with a Guild cat with either a warrior mother x member father or warrior father x member mother. And maybe some cats decide to stay with the Guild or Clan. I would like to see some of this
Although I only have Flaxeyes in FrostClan now but Long Cloud and River Stone are open for anything.

Is den organization the same? Do all of the same ranking cats share dens or are the sleeping arrangements different? xD;

In terms of territory, we should probably have that meltwater creek just as a water source and so Fire Song's history makes sense.

I think the guide should have the option of retiring as mentioned above, but s/he should have to consult with the advisors first for it.
I like the looking out for all of the kits idea. :3 It'll result in further guild unity.

I think the Guide and Healer should have their own dens with everybody else sharing. The Nursery could be seperate but partially connected to the member den for protection.

-nods- That's the only confirmed feature. Where the land is open it can freeze in winter while if it flows through a forest it is just cold and icy but not frozen over.

True true. The Advisors will get a say in that decision. I'm hoping some of the kit ideas can go ahead. Guild - FrostClan unity would be great and it would scare the other Clans x'D

Those pictures are awesome! They look real cool! Could we use them for different skins sometimes? And I was thinking something like that for Sparrow Song too. But then Howling Wind would stay behind so it would be sad-ish.

I was just thinking...but maybe some of the new kits in the different Clans could meet the cats in the Guild. I'm thinking maybe some of River Stone's kits would join Burntstar's fanclub.

If I had a tom in the Clans, he would be her mate! I just realized I don't have a tom. -sighs-

There are no guild boards for us to roleplay on.
The fanclub birth window is pretty much drawing to a close. By the time FrostClan gets back, Thunderpaw (one of the oldest) will be about ready to become a warrior. We can't have too much of an age difference here...and the cats of the guild are probably a bit too peaceful to care about that.

Question for all the admins: if we create characters, shouldn't we be role-playing? I'm just thinking, because we really cannot role-play our new characters if there's nowhere to role-play them. It's okay if we haven't decided where everything is yet, but shouldn't we have one place where the Tribe cats can hunt?

Ali, I heard you say earlier that the Tribe has no clue that the Clans exist. Could I ask how your cat, River Stone, could have a Clan mate, then? I was thinking maybe she's wandering around and then trespasses into Clan territory, meets a tom there, and they fall in love. We could probably expand on that later, but for now, I'm all up for role-playing.

We'll get some boards up soon as possible, okay? We just need to decide on how the territory is laid out. We are going to wait until quite a few of the applications are finished. I don't want people to feel pressured into completing them.
And by the way, you should know it is a Guild and not a Tribe ;D

And no they don't know the Clans exist and the distance from the Guild Camp and FrostClan is far enough that they would not bump into each other unless they were purposely going in that direction. River Stone would have to take a Clan cat for a mate when FrostClan met them. In the mean time I will probably give River Stone a Guild father and create a tom member to possibly father kits in FrostClan. Can an admin add the allegiance list of FrostClan to more first post?

FrostClan will be the only cats to have journeyed to their camp. AquaClan will also meet them in battle. FrostClan will be the only cats to know them as friends as allies. To everybody else they are a mystery.

Can we get some AquaClan roleplays up in No Cat's Land?

What kind of places would they be sleeping in? Hollow? Fallen trees? Old badger or fox dens?
If we had hollows we could have all the members and advisors sleep in one part of the den then the learners could maybe have like this ledge that leads into another den. It's almost how they decribed the intruder's dens from Outcast.

I was imagining that the camp would be set in a small dip in the hillside, like a basin but that could be at risk from flooding. Oh well :/
The camp would be surrounded by thick ferns, gorse, bracken, chickweed and long grass. The rear of the hollow should be exposed land from an old landslip (that could be how the camp formed) and there's a tree overhanging that little slope. Gorse, fallen leaves or something could have covered the roots and inside that little space could be the Nursery. The learners sleep seperate (in my History I mentioned the learners once all caught a cough and I think some other people might have included that) in a den that should be an old thorn bush that's grown into a sort of cage. There was one like that at my old school. You could crawl right throught it c: It could be supported by a fallen log which has split open and been covered with moss and bush. The Healer could sleep inside. The members and Advisors could sleep in the open?
I'm just trying to picture the whole thing, realisticly. The Ancient Cats had underground tunnels didn't they? They were probably for mining around the quarry aka ThunderClan camp.
In hills here you often see rocks cropping up quite often....

Just a note, totally out of the blue here probably but here's my announcement! Just to let you guys know, my cat Sparrow Song, had a brother, Shining Water. Anyone who wants to play a Guild cat or something, they can play him. Make him anyway you want!

Sorry if this seems a bit random in the midst of the conversation. ^^;
Since Pine Needles is only two moons younger than Long Cloud, would it make sense that she was an ordinary guild learner first, before becoming the Guide-learner?
Otherwise she'd have been a kit 'till she was thirteen moons old, I think. She could have been a young learner at the same time Long Cloud was the learner of Bracken's Thorn.

I think it would. (: For the guild, I'm guessing that they don't have learner specialization when they receive their teachers. A clan medicine cat apprentice is typically apprenticed along with the other apprentices, but a guide-/healer- learner should complete normal training first. This way, their true personality will become more evident and the cats can tell if they would be good guide/healer material. Does that make sense?

I agree with Tiger. So the learner of the Guide or Healer completes a normal membership training course with another mentor before being the learner of the Guide or Healer. In that case I have to change Long Cloud's history or just say that Bracken's Thorn trained him normally as well and hadn't planned on dying.

OR

Long Cloud took Pine Needles as his learner because he grew up with her and knew that she could make a better Guide than a member and so requested that she become his learner instead of a younger cat.

I'ld been thinking over this for a bit, trying to make the ages work

Personally, I like the first idea. x3 I dunno; it would make sense if the Guide and Healer could get to see the learners grow up a bit and allow their personalities to develop before they choose who their learner would be. If the position is chosen too early, the kit or young learner might end up changing their mind (e.g. Hollypaw wanting to become a warrior rather than the medicine cat).

But the second one would work just as well, and I can understand if you don't want to go back into Long Cloud's already-long-and-awesome app. xD

I agree with you Loaym and I'll just go back and perhaps add a little something saying that Long Cloud was completing a normal training course with Bracken's Thorn because, let's say, he felt that if anyone else were to train him they would mistake his quiet, reserved nature for stupidity xD

Also, I think a ban should be in place on female members. We already have quite alot now!

The ban isn't official, I have to discuss it with the other admins as of yet. It's just that out of all the members we only have one male so far. I would like to see some learners! If you would like to make a femal, personally myself, I'ld prefer she was a learner.

By the way (for your app), Eagle's Wing is an advisor, possibly an elder, and is the same age as Long Grass (69 moons).
