Moonstream looked at Fogstar intently. Then she looked toward Stone. Why weren't they talking? And why when they did talk did she not understand a word they said? She didn't understand anything they had said and it was frustrating her terribly. "What is AquaClan's problems with loyalties? You can't just tell me that you have something to say about loyalties and not tell me! I need to know!"

"Well, I'm awfully disloyal, now, aren't I?" Stone meowed. "I ran away from AquaClan as an apprentice because I didn't like it there. You won't remember it and I don't think anyone else in the Clan will...well, the elders might. But I know that the other medicine cats are hearing everything too specifically. They need to be able to figure things out for themselves, you know."

"But you're part of StarClan now! Your loyalties don't count!" she wailed. "What do I do? Did I do something wrong?" Moonstream collapsed in the corse grass and looked down at her paws, failure washing over her like the water at the Rushing River did.

Stone was a loner, and he gave his part in showing Shadowsoul most of the things she knows now. That's why she caught on very fast. Dragonpaw on the other hand is the opposite." Morningstar meowed to Moonstream. She showed the medicine cat a picture of Dawn, and Shadowsoul's kit Dawnkit wondering, and gathering herbs. Morningstar dipped her head, then her starry pelt started to fade away.

Dawnkit is going to be medicine cat apprentice once she is ready... just so if you didn't know.

Moonstream nodded, the failure seeping away like the moon at sunhigh. "So what she's saying is Shadowsoul's kit, Dawnkit, will be my apprentice? What has that got to do with loyalties?"

"Patience, dear Moonstream," Fogstar meowed chuckling. "The patient warrior catches the plumpest mouse."
As Morningstar delivered her message Fogstar frowned disapprovingly. "She's always interferring with everyone elses Clans. My message has nothing to do with Dawnkit or you or Stone here. It is about the cat Jaystar worries about. Or so I believe."
He circled around her, his tail swishing as he summoned up the words he was looking for. He cleared his throat and began. "Close your eyes Moonstream. Imagine you are alone in the wild. You don't have a Clan, the safety of large numbers, the knowledge that you will wake up in the morning and not be in StarClan. You have no medicine cat to heal your wounds or show you the way. You have a mother, a father and siblings. You listen to their words and you give them your respect and loyalty. They are both your Clan and your family. Now imagine them gone and you've been thrusted into a world where you know nobody. A true Clan under StarClan's guidance. You are an outsider. A Clan is a big family where you don't have to be related by blood. There are cats in AquaClan who are like the cat in my story. You need to teach them that AquaClan is their new family, one without blood ties. Forget their heritage and help them make home. They will make mistakes of course but that's what life is about. Tell Jaystar it is hard to be loyal to somebody you don't even know or trust."

Moonstream nodded. She knew exactly who Fogstar was talking about. "Thank you Fogstar," she murmured. She turned toward Stone and dipped her head. "Thank you Stone. Is there anything else?"

Stone shrugged with a good-natured smile on his face. "Not really," he meowed calmly. "I'm glad you understand Fogstar because I sure don't! Well, best of luck to your Clan--and make sure my daughter gets the greeting." He wrapped his white-tipped tail around his paws.

Moonstream dipped her head to Fogstar and Stone. "Thank you, and of course." The silver she-cat opened her eyes to find herself back at the Moonpool, the other cats sleeping soundly.

Blackleaf woke up next to the moonpool. Only seeing Moonstream.
"My dream was quite weird tonight. And stressful." he whispered. "So Moonstream, how is Aquaclan?" he asked once more. He totally forgot about how he asked earlier.

Quietshadow lifted his head and yawned before glancing over at the other medicine cats. Moonstream and Blackleaf were up, so he tucked his paws under his chest and listened to Blackleaf's question. He blinked, surprised about not asking that before. Well, AquaClan was closest to rogue territory, and he was wondering if Moonstream had seen Nightshade around.

Moonstream replied calmly, "AquaClan is great. Shadowsoul had kits recently. They were greatly anticipated." She let herself relax on the stone floor, while Quietshadow, Blackleaf, and her waited for Rainlight.

Fogstar nodded to Moonstream and padded away. "I think she understood," he meowed to himself. "I hope she did." He chuckled and vanished into the stars.
Rainlight woke puzzling over Daisy's comment. You could speak to Blackleaf's mother in your world. But that would mean his mother is still alive. In BeachClan. She had always assumed that Blackleaf and Skypaw's mother was a rogue or had died or something. She shook her furry head in confusion. Forehead knitted in confusion she rose to paws, stretching her legs. "I think we better get going back to FrostClan, Blackleaf. I have much to discuss with you."

Moonstream got up as well. "Well, goodbye, Rainlight. Blackleaf. Good tidings to your Clan. Hope all is well. I should get back to my Clan as well. Goodbye, Quietshadow." The black-spotted she-cat dipped her head to the three other medicine cats, hastily padding out of the hollow. She had much to discuss with Jaystar.

Quietshadow also stood and stretched out. "Farewell, Moonstream, Rainlight, and Blackleaf. May StarClan light your paths. We'll have much to discuss with our Clans, I am sure." He turned tail and began to pad out of the hollow before looking over his shoulder at his apprentice. "Larchpaw, come along. There's nothing else to do here."

Blackkleaf walked next to his mentor. "So, what was your dream about?" he asked. He looked down at his paws. I can't tell her! I broke the warrior code! But Morningstar said it just ran in the family. It's not fair!!!!! he thought, angry, but also scared.
"Rainlight, well, my dream was just akward, lets just put it at that." he meowed softly.

"So was mine," Rainlight meowed, her eyes narrowed. "I dreamt I was in the meadow and I all was fine. It was sunny and I could smell the prey but everything felt tense." She turned to face Blackleaf, her grey eyes angry. "And then I was informed by Daisy that my apprentice, now a full medicine cat, had broken the warrior code and taken a mate!" she hissed," Who knows what StarClan will do us!? Blackleaf, what do you to say for yourself? You broke the warrior code and if I find out that Flaxeyes is carrying your kits I will be furious."

Blackleaf dipped his head, his eyes closed. His eyes opened with anger. Morningstar told me it's a family tradition! She said I will be punished, but said that most cats in my family broke the code!" he spat back. "And I love her and you can't change it! I'll die for her, and you would know that," he snarled. He didn't dare to look at Rainlight now. "And my mother WILL be proud an happy, no matter what, she knows the feeling." he whispered. My dad was taken away, and that was her punishment. Silentstep was made an elder early, right after she became a warrior, Morningstar's mate had died, right after the birth..... he thought. "But what about Skypaw!" he said aloud. Oops. Wasn't supposed to say that out loud... he trailed off.

Rainlight growled and closed her eyes. Anger blazed deep within her and she was trying to be calm. "Family tradition?!" she yowled, her attempts at being calm failing, "What is wrong with you?! AH!"
She whirled around stalked off into the undergrowth. "I can accept that you love Flaxeyes," she said quiter," I was a warrior first so I know that it is hard to face that you will never have kits or be allowed to a mate..." She shook her head. The warrior code! You have to follow it. Don't let emotions cloud your judgement. She took a deep breath and turned back to Blackleaf. "How will this affect Flaxeyes? Or the kits she is most likely carrying?" she asked, her voice deep with concern. Her head tilted sideways at Blackleaf's exclaimation. "What about Skypaw?". Her eyes were narrowed and her voice cautious.
((I was thinking that Flaxeyes might get attacked by a fox/badger/dog...))

"Yes! AHHH!! Leave me alone!!" he hissed. He was ready to rip Rainlight's fur off, but he kept calm.
He ignored her. "AHH!! Icestar was my mother okay! Me and Skypaw love her to death, along with our father that I have never met! Now leave me alone!" he snarled. He leaped over a bush and headed toward Beachclan territory. Maybe mum would know what to do? he thought.

Rainlight stared after Blackleaf. "Icestar?" she whispered to herself.
She turned and started padding back to camp, talking to herself as went. "Maybe I was a little harsh, but the warrior code clearly states medicine cats can't have mates. I suspose it isn't that big a deal for Blackleaf because he's a male. But what about Flaxeyes and her kits? What about me? What if StarClan chooses to punish us instead?" She let out an anguished cry and ran back to camp.
