Faunus approached Rockfang slowly, his tail up in a friendly gesture. The tortoiseshell she-cat had multiple scars over her body so he figured that it would be foolish to frighten her into attacking him. "I'm Faunus, a loner and friend of the Clans," he meowed softly, dipping his head. "If you would like, I can help you find somewhere to sleep?"
Spider watched as the black queen carried her kits in, placing each one gently into a nest of old hay. Dragonpaw's sudden arrival caused him to twitch and his yellow eyes flashed with anger. He didn't like cats leaping at him from behind. "Where's Rainkit?" he asked the tom, changing topics mentally. As he searched the slowly filling barn he spotted a she-cat, clearly a loner and not a Clan cat. Oh great, there'll be no food for anybody at this rate! His stomach rumbled in agreement.

"We'd appreciate that," replied Rockfang, dipping her pied head to the loner. "Our territory was destroyed in a fire and there's nothing to eat or anything. Can the mice in the barn support a whole clan of cats?" She looked around the structure. It didn't seem capable of housing a sufficent amount of prey for a twenty-something group of cats to survive the leaf-bare on.

Maddie looked at the large she-cat. "Maybe if some warriors share. Maybe elders and kits should eat first?" Maddie looked at Henry. "I'll help the queen, you can find a place for the elders or apprentices?" She suggested. Maddie padded over to Shadowsoul, and dipping her head.
Dragonpaw twisted his head around. "I thought you and Nightshade took her?" Now he was mad, it was bad enough that they were force to find a new home. Dragonpaw looked at Spider. "Here, I'll take Mousekit over to Shadowsoul, Maddie should be able to distract her while we look for Rainkit." Dragonpaw nodded. He new Shadowsoul would have another hairball if she new that her kit was missing. He looked at Browntail, and the tom nodded, over hearing Dragonpaw's situation. Browntail took Mousekit and headed over toward the queen.

Spider shook his head frantically. "I put her down outside the barn but I had to run off to stop Browntail from getting his pelt ripped off." He turned to Nightshade, his whole body drooping. He had assumed the grey kit would follow them inside but now she hadn't and no one had seen her.
Faunus shook his head to Rockfang. "If we hunt around twolegplace, but not near the nests of course, and on the farms we may be okay. We'll have to rely more on tracking and finding rabbit dens. If we can do that, the Clan should be well-fed." He turned to watch Maddie pad away, angry that the loner had suddenly decided to appear. Usually she hunted around the twolegplace where there was plenty of shelter. She would have to hunt elsewhere if the Clan was to hunt in the area, due to the fact that Clan cats would not travel near the nests. Faunus didnn't mind hunting in the gardens and he knew Spider lived in one last leaf-bare. Guess he decided not to this season. I wonder why? It would of been easier.

"I'll help look for her," Nightshade offered. "I think I should be able to pick up on her scent--Spider taught me how to track," she added, smiling. She wasn't proud of not knowing how to hunt, but she wouldn't have any other cat than Spider teaching her how to.
"That's fine. Tracking is nothing new to us," she meowed to Faunus. "I don't care if we hunt near twolegplace as long as nobody's sneaking kittypet food and as long as the mice aren't poisoned." Rockfang wrinkled her nose at the thought of the cardboard-like cat food Daisy had told her about as a kit. "Well-fed...I can't say that that's described us for moons."
Henry shrugged. "Whatevah," he meowed calmly to Maddie. He knew nothing of clan life and didn't have the faintest idea of the warrior code. He hurried after the loner, trying to get a better look at the AquaClanners, remembering Faunus's comment: "There might be some pretty she-cats." He smirked slightly and fluffed his pelt against the cold. The barn was drafty, but it was an oven compared to the harsh winds outside.

Dragonpaw nodded. "She probably couldn't have gone too far." He hoped. Dragonpaw poked his head outside. No sight of her right now. Then he sniffed the air. "This is a Frostclan thing to be sniffing snow like this!" The tom snarled. He hated snow, he hated it! Dragonpaw looked around again. Still no sign.
Maddie looked at Shadowsoul. "They're big." She purred. Shadowsoul purred. "Yes all thre-, WHERE'S RAINKIT!" The queen was having a panic attack. "I knew I shouldn't have trusted the loner. Now's she's lost!" The black queen yowled. "Shh! Calm down." Maddie eased. Shadowsoul looked at the loner with a angry stare. "How should I calm down when my kit is gone!" I feel the same way, Maddie was thinking of Ralf.

"I'm such a horrible parent," Spider moaned, his tail flicking uneasily. He felt so guilty for leaving her outside bu he had to stop Browntail. Faunus would of torn him to shreds. Sighing, he slipped back outside following Dragonpaw. Nightshade and him would be better suited to tracking the kit than the AquaClan apprentice. Although that area recieved snowfall it was not much due to the canopy of trees protecting it. Spider stretched out his neck and sniffed the air which was heavy with the scents of many cats. "Rainkit!" he yowled.
Faunus smiled, brown eyes twinkling in amusement. Typical Clan cats. When there was easy food about they would refuse to eat it. "Don't worry about that," he told her sincerly," If you want to eat kittypet food it is at your own free will. Although, I would suggest it if we're desperate."

"Rainkit's gray, right?" asked Nightshade, trotting out after Spider. "It would be easier to spot her against the snow than to try and sniff her out. Although...I'm not too bad at picking up scents in snow. The few tracking skills I learned back home were all in weather like this." She was not nearly as stressed as the other cats, mainly because she didn't have a lot of experience with kits and wasn't really aware of how much trouble they could get themselves into if left unsupervised for even a few minutes.

Rainkit looked around. All she saw was bushing and fallen trees. It was too cold for her to talk, she was shivering. Her coat was mostly covered in snow and she was getting dizzy. She opened her mouth, a big puff came out of her mouth as she breathed. She didn't know where she was and she knew everyone wouldn't be too worried about her, other than her mother. She stood frozen, other than her head that was twisting around.
Dragonpaw looked at Nightshade. "Yes, but it's likely that's she's white now, thanks to the snow." He growled. The black apprentice looked around. "She's probably somewhere around she plants or something, if anything, she'd be around here if she wasn't."

"But I left her right in sight of the barn," Spider complained, pacing up and down the well-trodden path. The snow had become slush under the many paws of cats. He turned to Nightshade his yellow eyes wide with fear. "Do you think you could track her? Maybe she followed Browntail and me around the side of the barn...!" The rogue bolted off around the side of the barn to the window where Browntail and Dragonpaw had gained entrance. Their pawprints were still slightly visable in the snow and when he sniffed the air he could make out Rainkit's. "Where are you?" he yowled, turning up the snow with his nose.

Rainfeather looked up after collapsing to the ground for some rest. Her ears twitched as she heard the panic and frowned. Rainkit? She glanced to Shadowsoul, seeing her panic. Oh no, if Rainkit was lost in this weather, it was not good at all. She glanced over to where Stormstrike had been sitting to ask him about it, but the smaller tom was gone.
"Here, let me help." A quiet voice broke in beside Spider and Stormstrike padded into view, nose in the air as as he checked for the kits scent with a slightly open mouth. "You left her right out here right?" he asked, looking up with concerned blue eyes. The wind blew chilly but he ignored it even as it bit through his fur. With that wind...he caught scent of Rainkit, faint..but still there! "She hasn't gone far." he informed Spider, weaving his way quickly through the thick snow.

"Oh thank-you!" Spider meowed in relief. The Clan tom was probably more familiar with the kit's scent than he was and would be able to pick up the fainter traces in the snow. "I feel so horrible about this," he told Stormstrike, wading through the snow. His long legs allowed him to step over and down the snow where other cats had to leap. He opened his mouth, drawing in the scents around him. Yes! He could just make out Rainkit's scent.

Rainkit looked around, she felt really dizzy and cold. Her soft fuzzy pelt wasn't on her anymore, she was starting to get the regular thick pelt, like older cats. She looked around, still undergrwoth around her. She noticed she hadn't moved. Rainkit thought that she did. Her eyes were half open and her paws felt too heavy to move. He mouth stayed open. She couldn't say anything. Only puffs from her breath showed. Then she colasped into the white snow.

Stormstrike's paws were freezing, but he kept going and kept his eyes sharp for movement. There! He saw a small shape move. Or he thought he did...no, he definately did. He moved as fast as he could to it, recogninzing the shape. He looked over his shoulder to Spider. "Found her!" He picked up Rainkit gingerly, feeling her shivering. Then he turned to move back towards the barn, careful not to drop the kit.

"Thank goodness!" Spider meowed with relief. The young she-cat was visibly shivering and he couldn't believe how horrible it made him feel. She wasn't even his kit, just some Clan cat he had carried. But he had promised to look after her and now she was freezing to death because he couldn't keep an eye on her. Spider padded after Stormstrike, his tail drooping. "We better get her inside," he murmured.

Stormstrike's paws were getting number by the second and his ears twitched to keep off the snow. He glanced back to Spider, frowning. He felt bad for the cat, he really did. He had tried to help, this wasn't really his fault. Looking back to the barn as they got closer, he spoke around the shivering kit. "Don't worry, I'll take care of her mother." Only it sounded a little more muffled, but understandable all the same as he passed through the barn door.

"My kit!" Shadowsoul yowled. She raced up to Stormstrike with a smile on her face and purred. "Thank goodness!" Then she saw her kits shivering. "Where is Moonstream? Rainkit needs to be treated or something!" She hissed. She frowned once she saw Spider. She gave him a glare then took Rainkit away from Stormstrike. She blinked her thanks and padded back with Maddie. Maddie looked at Shadowsoul. Maddie was warming the other two kits, licking the fur the opposite way.

Spider frowned unhappily. The black queen would never trust him now. "I'm really, really sorry," he called after her. He shook melting snow from his fur and settled himself on the floor of the barn. Faunus had already dragged some hay from the hay-barrels to be made into nests and was now trying to shake stalks of from his whiskers and fur. The loner gave up and padded over to Spider and Nightshade meowing," I see you found the kit. Don't look so glum. Clan cats are sturdy things. They won't go down without a fight!"

Stormstrike glanced from Spider, seeing his expression drop. The poor tom was only trying to help. Looking back to Shadowsoul, he made a quick decision. "Um, hey Shadowsoul...actually, it my fault Rainkit got stuck outside. Spider asked me to watch her a moment so that he could get us into the barn safetly. I got so caught up with the thought of warmth that I lost track of her. And Spider was the one who found her just now, so you should be thanking him." he said solemnly, nodding to Spider as he spoke. Big risk, but Shadowsould would forgive him eventually and Spider needed her good side.

Spider looked up at Stormstrike with an expression of disbelief. He barely knew this tom and here he was lying for him? He opened his mouth to correct the comments but as he caught the warrior's eye he realised what he was doing. He's covering for my mistakes so the queen will forgive me...So she'll trust me again. The rogue suddenly felt overcome with an emotion he had long forgotten; gratitude. Nobody had ever done something like that for him and from a Clan cat it meant even more. Spider smiled weakly and nodded. "We were all thinking of the warmth," he meowed, in hopes of saving his new friend from the queen's anger. " The cold had made our minds fuzzy. Rainkit is fine now, isn't she?"

Shadowsoul let Maddie warm her kits. She smiled then padded over to Spider. "Thank you." She meowed softly. Then cracked a crooked smile. The black queen turned to Stormstrike. "Do you know where Jaystar is? I haven't seen him the whole trip." She meowed. Her voice had a crack in it. I hope he's okay. Her green eyes were pales and round, full of worry.

Stormstrike glanced to Spider, then turned back to Shadowsoul. He smiled comfortingly, placing his tail on her shoulder. "He's probably resting from the long journey and you should too, so that you can save up your energy for your kits." he replied soft, nudging her shoulder gently. Then he yawned himself, stretching. "I think I'm going to get some rest myself, my paws are killing me." he said tiredly, nodding to both of them before turning to find a place to relax.
