Burntstar...?
All of Maplepaw's stories came flooding back. This was the leader who had attempted to murder his own deputy; this was the cat who had turned against the clans and taken lives from both Hawkstar and Jaystar. Was the big cat in league with him? And, more shocking still, could Lightningpaw and Heronpaw have run off to find this cat? But... why?
He looked back through the dark undergrowth, wondering whether to make a run for it. However, his curiosity about the recent events got the better of his fear and guilt - he wanted to know what the rogue was up to, wanted to know where the other two apprentices had gotten to. Besides, hadn't he already told the rogue he'd follow him? It was better, he supposed, not to back down.
"H-hey! Wait!" he called, maybe a little too loudly. He scrambled after the cat, his paws skidding on the ground as he tried to catch up.
