Appearance;
Her fur varies between patches of tan and black, though the black proves to be the more prominent of these colours, covering her tail, face, legs, and most of her lower back. The tan areas tend to be slightly fluffy, in contrast to the glossier black areas. Build-wise, she's a little on the stocky side, though she is not extremely muscular. The strong contours of her face frame round, pale grey eyes, positioned in a bit of a downward slant.

Personality;
Sootpaw is an enthusiastic, far-reaching dreamer; a radical fanatic of spiritual and mystical ideas. In other words, she's obsessed with StarClan. It all started with the dreams that took her 'home' - or rather, to her mother's birthplace. The forest. RainClan. Sootpaw believes that StarClan 'rescued' her from her former life as a loner by guiding her to her true home, and has come to treat this as a huge deal. StarClan reached out and found her when she was lost; therefore, they must be the answer to everything. They are superior; they are good. They hold the answers that can solve every problem. Every cat must praise them with all their strength.
Though she often has the tendency to bring up the idea of StarClan in conversation with other cats, Sootpaw rarely shows others the full extent of her faith for them. She tends to come across as a dreamy, optimistic cat - with a bit of a tendency to space out. One minute, she's sorting herbs; the next, her head will be in the stars - or, of course, she'll be thinking about her clan. Despite an unspoken prejudice against those who doubt StarClan or have broken the warrior code, she loves to be amongst other cats, and takes great interest in the goings-on of RainClan.

History;
Though Sootpaw does have RainClan blood, she was born a loner. Her mother, you see, was this cat called Featherfoot. A former RainClan warrior who'd turned her back on her clan for the freedom of an outsider's life, and independent to seemingly no bounds. But there was a stinging annoyance within this she-cat - the fact that her daughter, Spottedfrost, had refused to leave RainClan with her and her family. After the death of her mate, a rogue named Tyler, and her two sons, she was devastated. The queen considered running back to find Spottedfrost, but after their argument, reunion seemed unlikely. Her sadness began to morph into desire - a longing to have another kit.
She never thought this could happen, however, until she met up with Tom - another loner, who had by his side a son. A son! He could be Featherfoot's son too, no? As they talked, she learned of Tom's dispute with his former mate, Ocean - and felt she could relate to him. After all, she had felt disconnected to her clan and had run away with Tyler. The connection drew them together, and they had another litter of kits - Fleck, Flower and Sooty. ((Yes, her former name was Sooty.))
Sooty was always a little bit... radical. She got enthusiastic about things - but what worried Featherfoot was that she had dreams about a strange group of cats, and convinced herself that they meant something. Featherfoot, obviously, had at least some idea of what she was talking about - but she kept what she knew, and whatever Tom knew, about the clans away from her newest litter. Sooty was not going to desert her like Spottedfrost had! Right? Wrong. Sooty was practically insane in her obsession with her dreams, and arguments with her mother became increasingly constant. Finally, she too ran away, guided by the paths she'd traversed before in her dreams. She was a RainClan cat, and StarClan knew it. Of course, she didn't know about RainClan or StarClan just yet, but anyways.
After days of travel, she made her way to the RainClan camp - exhausted, of course, and somewhat dazed. As she asked whether they recognized the name Featherfoot, there was no doubt she came across as suspicious, and even somewhat delusional. As she recovered from her journey in the medicine cat's den, however, her relationship with some of the cats - particularly, with her half-sister, Spottedfrost, began to strengthen. Eventually, she was accepted into the clan.
At the time, she was already old enough to become a clan apprentice. Though she'd have loved to have trained as a warrior, she was more intrigued by the idea of being a medicine cat.
So, ultimately, she became Sootpaw - the medicine cat apprentice of RainClan.
